He happens to be a huge C10 fanatic as well!! |
Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
oh yea, and got this hooked up too. I bypassed the throttle body. I live in Tennessee so I doubt a freezing throttle body will be an issue.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Well if it's not one thing it's another. Apparently I got my engine out of one of those rare crossover 06 2500hds that came with the same accelerator pedal as a 97-04 corvette so the regular vortec tac harness I ordered doesn't fit the pedal. The good news is that PSIconversions has offered to exchange my harness for a corvette harness. The bad news is now I have to ship my harness back and wait on the new one to get here. Talk about rotten luck. I'm also having issues fitting the 4l80 into my transmission tunnel. It's hitting on the bolts from my ratchet shifter and won't got up high enough for me to get the crossmember/ mount combo under it.....even after my buddy cut and welded a new mounting plate almost a half inch down into the crossmember! I'm gonna by some hollow round stock tonight and try to make some one inch spacers and mount the crossmember an inch under the frame instead of on top of it.....kinda like the 4x4s are mounted and hope my pinion angles are still ok. It's either that or a full custom crossmember and I have no fab skills so I really hope this works.
Has anyone else ever had this clearance issue with the 4l80? Also, how the heck do I get my transmission dipstick tube in!!!!!????? I've been wrestling with it on and off for a week now!!!! |
Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
what size are those rear tires and wheels?? looks sweet....
|
Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
i normally install the tube before i put the engine tranny in the vehicle. i've never dealt with the 4l80e, so i'm not much help there. is it just the bolts for the floor shifter that are causing the issues, or are there other areas in the tunnel?

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Tomorrow after work I just have to drill two holes to mount the new front tank mount, put it in, then connect all the lines I made, run a jumper to the pump to pressurize the system and check for leaks. I have to work this weekend but Im hoping to finish all the little odds and ends and for a first fire-up by sometime next week.

Damn dude what your eyes! I wear eye protection religiously since I got a piece of aluminum in my eye as a teenager. You are moving along fast! Should be driving it soon.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Did you post information on the catch can? I am going to put one on my swap based on the amount of oil that's in the throttle body. The homemade one that I have on my 350k mile van has to get emptied regularly.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Catch an was only $20 on eBay. They're simple to hook up I just sold it cause my neighbor wanted it for his mower and I can't figure out where I a would have room to mount it anyway. Once I get my vintage air and get rid of the old a.c. box on passenger side ill probably buy another one and mount it over there.

We jumped the fuel pump last night to pressurize the system and check for leaks....it held 52psi and I seam to have a couple very small leaks....not dripping but after a few minutes you can feel just a hint of moisture at fuel rail fitting and line out of fuel tankIm ganna take them loose, clean the male and females and reassemble as tight as possible. Im thinking I may have some crud preventing a perfect seal.. |
Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Ok I have a question.... Negative battery cable has main cable that ground to block but where does the smaller cable ground to?
