They finally got around to fully seam welding in the new fuel filler door & inside bed filler neck cover plate. Of course Mario will go back over all this when he's smoothing out the body & the inside of the bed all gets Line-X, so you'll never know it wasn't factory!

Did you look at aftermarket batery hold downs? I think I saw one similar to your original design on Extreme 4x4 ( Power Block TV).

Here are samples of others.

Yep, I looked at most of the ones online & was most interested in the ones from Artec Welding. However, I wanted the shop to fabricate these items so I knew what I had was one off & wouldn't be found on the next guys rig...

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Parking brake remained & is one of the reasons we used the newer axle. As for the ABS, all the axle has is the tone rings- they're still there, just not being used as I won't have ABS.
Had a really good visit with all the shops yesterday. Have some pics I'll post once I get back home too. Locked in the upholstery guy after finally getting to talk to him & see some of his work in person. Changed what we're doing inside a bit too - going to be quite a bit more "upscale" than originally planned, but still very useable.
The bed should be headed to Mario soon so he can get that started & the rear seat, overhead console & headliner should go out for upholstery work as well - gotta start speeding the process to make February!!!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Sorry it's been a little while, but been busy on my vacation... Not too many pics to post as not much had changed by my visit. Did have a good trip though & was able to iron out a lot of details & visit with Mario at his shop to go over the paint & body plans. Also locked in the interior guy - he's the one that WFO usually uses, but I wasn't 100% sure he was up to what I wanted... Turns out he's WAY more than I expected & more than up to the task at hand!!!

Also have decided to step up the interior plans a notch & make it a little nicer than originally planned. When I left the shop to come back home they were working on the passenger side battery mount & the air intake box and plumbing. The factory mount wasn't going to work with the air box they're going to be building. Also going to have them build it with a lexan cover with the Mast Motorsports logo laser etched into it.

Anyway, pics to follow.

Pic of the fuel door welding. Asked them to basically hold off on all of the body work to let Mario handle it all. He saw all this during my visit & would rather do it his way & right the first time. I felt the same way.

Speaking of body work.... Here's a new dent - put there by the shop on accident when a piece of metal went flying across the shop. Mario can repair it so I told them not to worry about trying to have their guy do anything with it for now.

Here's a shot of the new power steering reservoir along with one of the new radiator overall catch can. Going for a brushed aluminum look for a lot of the accessories under the hood since the radiator was already that way anyhow. The intake plumbing will be brushed aluminum & the A/C drier has the same look, so it'll all look right.

Here's how the driver side battery box came out once they modified it more like how I wanted. The passenger side one will be mounted about the same, but twisted the other direction along the inner fender wall.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

We also determined that Mario was going to be painting the inner fenders, core support, steering gear box & steering shaft with the same hot rod flat he's going to be painting some of the other items under the hood. They were fitting the 3-pc engine covers when I was leaving as well & it made a lot of difference in how the engine looks in there - much better!!!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Oh yeah, the interior shop is called Roman's Upholstery & it's also there in Auburn not to far from WFO's shop. They'll be getting him the headliner & rear seat soon to start on. They'll also be getting Mario the bed assembly & new fiberglass hood to begin working on - this way we'll be that much closer to hitting the February deadline!!!

Yes it looks great! The brushed aluminum here and there will set it all off IMO.

Here's some quick pics of the new intake system that Keven is fabricating up for me. The K&N one I bought didn't fit too well, so we decided to just go from scratch. The air box will be getting a clear Lexan cover with the Mast Motorsports logo etched into it which I think will look pretty cool. Will post more pics once he gets that battery box fab'd up & mounted as well.
