It was a TERRIBLY painful search I gotta say.... I still don't have them in hand, so not fully exhaling just yet! It will make for a very nice touch without going overboard which is what I am trying to avoid.

Ok, so have been having some thoughts on my steering column & wheel lately with how much more "detailed" things are getting as of late... :drama:

My original & simple plan called for simply re-using the stock column but to add a late model 88-95 steering wheel for a nicer touch. I probably would have added some sort of different wiper module as mine is just two speed on/off & pretty much SUCKS!!!

Trevor had saved the newer style column out the Suburban he scrapped which had the newer stalk that included wiper & cruise controls which I really liked. However, that column is an automatic version with the unsightly shifter hanging off the side...

We could go the route of finding a similar used column from a manual equipped truck, but it's still hit & miss and really - who knows what shape it would be in...

So I started looking around online & found the new tilt columns from ididit. Have looked at them before, but was kind of turned off by where they locate the ignition switch on them... While looking at them today I saw that they have a keyless start column with the start button like on newer cars (my wife's Cadillac is one) & I really liked that!

I've emailed ididit for some tech help to be sure I can get what I need for this to go into my truck, but should all adapt to mine quite well!!! Also found that they have an upgraded wiper module & switch assembly for the column as well & was REALLY excited about that! :metal:

On top of this I think I am going to go with a new VinTec 15.5" steering wheel from Billet Specialties with one of their Bowtie horn button assemblies. I know they make a 14" version, but like my wheels a little larger like the factory one is.

The column I will most likely order in paintable steel & then have Mario paint it with the Hot Rod black. The wheel will remain polished aluminum, but will have Roman cover me a blank half wrap with material he's using on the interior so it matches exactly!

There is already going to be several other polished aluminum accents in the cab - most custom made, so it should blend right into the look pretty well!!! Take a look at the pics & let me know what you guys think!

Only issue I will have is whether I can get the start switch with a green LED rather than it looking red like in the pic so it matches the other green LED lighting in the cab. :bling2:

I get overexcited to easy....

Upon further research on the website, they do offer the Deluxe Keyless Ignition kit with the green LED - YIPPIE for me! And the Deluxe kit it turns out can also be programmed to operate the power door lock kit that I have from Auto Loc - even better!!!

This just means that I will have to order the steering column with the standard ignition switch & then convert - or order it all direct through ididit & they'll most likely put it together how I want before shipping. We'll see when I can call & find out.

Opinion time everyone

I found this steering wheel on the Budnik site & really liked it!!! It's got the round holes like my wheels & some of the fabricated items the shop has included, so I think it matches a little better than the Billet Specialties version I posted previously.

Which do you guys think would look better?

a buddy of mine has it on a modern Silverado:

Yeah, actually gave that idea some thought. However, as this truck is eventually destined for daily use & not just the show circuit, I just don't like deviating that far from stock - especially in the event of an accident or damage down the road...

I think the one from Budnik ties in better with the custom fab work.

And now the hunt begins.... I need to locate a company that can cut the clear cover for my new air box & also etch in the Mast Motorsports logo into the underside. I have sent a few feelers out to some companies I found on Google so I guess we'll see.

Do you have a drawing? I have a laser engraver at my disposal with a 12"x24" bed. It does acrylic very nice! I'd be happy to do it as a favor.

Hinges are on the way to Greening Auto Company finally via UPS!!! Hopefully will get some sort of design in the near future.

Looks like I found a company that can make my air box cover plate & put the Mast Motorsports logo on - in color even!!! It's called Consolidated Products Company & I am just waiting for the shop to now send them the dimensions so that they can get started making it. Will of course post pics once it'c completed.
Should have several pics to post come Friday. They are supposed to be working on my power steering & oil cooler plumbing - as well as the clutch hydraulics - we'll see...
4th Delta-Pro toolbox is supposed to be getting shipped out.... They say that they will actually inspect this one before it leaves the factory for defects so we don't get another messed up one & go through this whole process again.... Already told them though that if this one is damaged, we are going with a whole different manufacturer!!! They can't even mock-up my spare tire mount in the bed until we get this tool box mounted to see where it sits & how far into the bed area it goes...

Here's the design of the air box top that Del sent out to have made. Shouldn't take them to long to get this all made up & I and I can't wait to see the end result! Should have build update pics tomorrow with any luck.

Ok, finally some new update pics for everyone & it looks like they got a little bit done this week too!

Here's some shots of the cooler mount they made that sits down below the radiator on a custom mounting plate. It's mounting 2 aluminum finned coolers - one for the engine oil & the other for the power steering.

We had talked about running just the engine oil cooler down here & then the power steering would be up on the fender well, but I really like how clean & neat this came out so I'm glad that did it this way!!!

Hopefully they'll get them all plumbed up this coming week too. Gonna be going with black anodized -AN fittings & using Earl's Pro Flex hose - so it should come out looking killer!

I'll start this by saying that I feel VERY sorry for any damn deer that happen to run out in front of my truck with this hurkin' thing on the front - SPLAT!!!!

The front push bar is coming out even better than I had ever hoped for! They finally worked out the upper hand bar that I wanted & it was exactly what I was envisioning for it too!

He welded up the end caps & dressed 'em a bit so it looks a lot cleaner now. The vertical plates were re-cut with thicker steel, so I don't think I'll ever have to worry about this thing getting damaged in any way short of running it into a semi truck....

All the finish welding still needs to get done of course, but he does have the Vision X LED light in it's actual mounting spot now - that thing is gonna be BRIGHT!!!

I am asking them if they can find some large button head bolts to replace the stock type they have in these pics holding this on - trying to maintain that theme & look throughout the truck. I know they have them out there, the shop just has to get 'em.

Duh... :banghead:

I talked about the mounting bolts in the other post & then left out the damn picture of 'em! Here's how he's mounting the push bar to the bumper.
