Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

The site I listed still shows the ctsv pan being way shorter though at 5.5 inches and the 2010 camaro pan at 6.75 inches The camaro pan also has a longer sump. I guess I need to get under the truck and measure how long of a sump ai can get away with.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

So the wifes camaro needs new tires and her birthdays coming up so this could work out to my advantage. She wants black wheels and we have a discount tire direct card so I think shes going to get some cool new wheels and tires for her camaro and Steppinwolf is going to end up with her 20" camaro wheels. The back tires are done but the fronts still have some miles left so I may just sell my centerlines with the new drag radials and use that money to buy some drag radials for the camaro wheels since the back tires are bald. This will also keep me from having to clearance my rear fenders for those huge radials I bought and allow be to keep the 6" drop in the rear. Ive seen a couple c10s with the late model camaro wheels and I really like the look so Im pretty happy with this plan.

I also bought a window switch and wired up a relay to the TPS wire so it has to be at wide open throttle and at 3000 rpm to activate. Safety first. All the switches are in the ashtray and the window switch is in the glove box. I dont have any pics of it but its the digital intellitronix window switch. Nitrous comes on at 3000, off at 6100 right before the shift. If I get the trans beefed up later on Ill let it flow through the shift but its a stock 4L80 so Im trying to take it easy on it right now.;)

That's exactly how I set mine up when I had one on a Mustang 10 years ago, can't believe it's been that long. That controller is a nice product but the purple paint scheme they use, not so much. That truck is going to scream.

yea I painted it black but since I hid everything under the engine covers anyway, I think I just wasted paint, lol.;)

you may want to reconsider. Ive had nothing but problems with them. As a matter of fact I currently have a new set to replace these with but I just havent felt like taking my dash apart again.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

So in case anyone wants to know, all ZEX nitrous kits except for the high output kits are the exact same thing with the exception of jets and a few little vehicle specific small parts. So the kit Im using was bought over 10 years ago for my honda so the only jets I had for it were for 55,65,75 hp settings for a vehicle with lower running fuel pressure. I was able to mix up two of the jets to make a very rich running 60ish shot which is what I was playing around with yesterday. So over the weekend I ordered the jet pack for the LSX ZEX kit which came with all the jets needed for 75.100.125.150.175 shots on an LS running 58psi fuel pressure. They got here today. Always cracks me up when they put a tiny little part in a huge azz box. They could have just mailed these in an envelope, lol.

Also got my adapter/spacers to put the Camaro wheels on today. 5x5 adapted to 5x4.75 and 2" thick in case anyone wants to know. They look really nice. Hopefully they're well built and balanced but I wont know till I get the wheels mounted and drive on them.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

I swear I just cant get a break. My 2" drop springs finally got here (two days late no less) and I got all excited, unpacked them and set them on my bench and noticed the one on the right seemed shorter and the end of the spring seemed like it was bent down closer to the first coil than on the left spring. Pulled out a tape measure and measured from benchtop to highest point on both springs and sure enough one spring is almost 1/2' shorter than the other! I mean seriously wtf???? The whole reason I bought them in the first place was because my truck was sitting lopsided!! Im debating whether to send them back or to put the taller one on the driver side to compensate for driver weight. Also thats the side thats currently sitting lower so maybe this is a good thing??? opinions please??

well I got one spring put in today. Screwed up the threads on the passenger side lower balljoint so Im gonna have to replace the balljoint tomorrow but I got the drivers side done. You can see where the drivers side spring was collapsed.

And this is just a pic comparing the passenger side stock spring with the new 2" drop spring.

Ok so I just found a page comparing all the ls pans. The ls3 pan is only 1/2" shorter than my truck pan. The hummer pan that gm sells as the muscle car pan is 3/4" shorter so neither of those is really going to give me much more clearance but the ctsv pan is almost 3" shorter!! Im wondering if that ctsv pan would fit.

Just saw this...The CTS-V pan fits well in a square that is the only one I use on my swaps. Fits better IMO then the F-Body pan.

That's what I'm hearing. I'll definitely go with the ctsv pan when I finally swap pans.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Well I sent the springs back to summit today. Waiting on refund then will order some belltechs instead and hope that they're not two different lengths. Also found out I've got two different spindles, one belltech that's supposed to be for a 71-72 c10 and have no idea what's on the other side so looks like I'm gonna have to save up some money for a new set of 3" drop spindles too. Wow, this truck is such a POS! It's looking like every single part on it will be replaced before it's done. :(

Thanks brother! Im trying not to let it get me down but sometimes it feels like an uphill battle. If I would have known just how F***** up this truck was I would have left it alone and bought something else to sink all this money into but like I keep saying, Ive come to far to stop now. The hardest thing about it is that I want a daily driver as well as a weekend strip vehicle to play with so Im having to focus on comfort as well as performance and since I dont want to compromise on either....well it just gets expensive...especially when Ive also got a family to support.:waah:

Got the new belltech springs in today to replace the crooked summit/dropzone springs. Even though I know I need new spindles, I'm going to go ahead and put the belltech springs on so I can start dribving her again. I'll post pics when I get home later.
