Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
Thanks for the break down hart rod, I plan on taking mine all the way down and powder coating the frames before having them re-done. The seat warmers is a good idea.

Awhile back I was looking through Craigslist and found a nice looking longbed for sale down the road about 5 miles, as I am looking through the pictures, I see what looks like Buddy Buckets! I call the guy and sure enough, they where! So I ended up trading him my completely rebuilt, in great shape bench seat for his Buddies! Granted they are a little rough but I couldn't beat the price!

good score!

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
I picked these up today out of a dodge pickup.$16.05 at the crusher.I think I'm going to redo them in black leather with a hounds tooth insert.I don't care if they are dodge or not.For the price I can afford to recover them the way I like and put a cd player in the console and not cut my dash.I love treasure hunting in the junk yard.:chevy:

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
OhioDan,I actually spotted these seats a few months back.I saw this post and the pic or your seats last night.I personally like the dodge seats better than the 67/68 chevy. It looks more like 69/72 chevy buckets. After seeing yours I decided I had to have them. There is a crusher about 40 miles from me and they don't charge normal junkyard prices you pull your own parts.Any bench seat is $15 and they considered this a bench.Did you just drill four holes in the floor and set them in as removed?I haven't checked to see how they set in my truck yet but they sure look just right in yours.I removed 4 nuts from the bottom of the truck and set the whole setup right out.I sat in them and they are very comfortable. The covers are dry rotted but the foam is in great shape.I am going to remove the covers tomorrow and have me a custom set made using the originals for a pattern.I have recovered several sets of 69/72 buckets myself so I think I can do the same with these .I will know for sure after I remove the covers and see how they are put together. Thanks for posting pics of yours.:chevy:

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
There is a board member making correct 67/68 end brackets for your frame. contact me for his info...
He made a set for mine and they bolt right into the truck and look 100% stock. |
Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
Thanks Mike ,will send pm to get info .I would like to purchase the end brackets.

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
I was able to install my end brackets with little or no welding too. My seats have an angle iron piece on the outside where the bucket seat bolts to but I would still weld it to the frame. then bolt it to the truck... Your dodge buckets are a little different shaped than mine on the back, funny how there are so many styles... they all look good. Heck, my 05 Tahoe has modern buddy buckets too!

Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
To any of you that has recovered their 'buddies', can the Chevy style 'seat-back' be trimmed down slimmer like the Dodges were? I like the slimmer Dodge profile as it would seem to allow you to sit further back vs. the GM one.
Ohiodan, I really like yours. Can you get some more shots of yours around where the tilt hinges/pivots would be? What's the material (slip covers or custom stitched covers)? |
Re: Lets see those BUDDY BUCKETS!!!!!!!
Mine don't pivot. I don't have any pics of the area you requested. Will try and get more pics tonight? Had them custom covered by a guy in Springfield, Oh. (The Seat Cover King) As far as the material, the centers are like a tight weave burlap(?) and the rest is vinyl. Hope this helps?

I bought these out of a 1979 Dodge power wagon for 25.00. Then a found a chevy seat bottom at a swap meet. Then I got the covers from 72ironmike, I think. He had them made, but then he decided to go with red interior.
