My original question was somewhat rhetorical, because I know for a fact that no notch is needed for a 4" rear drop. Based on the suggested advice by some of the aftermarket suppliers, I just wanted to know if anyone has/had actually notched with a 4" drop in the rear. Thanks for all the replies, however, and I'm enjoying the drop pics. Although there are a dozen threads concerning dropage, by all means, keep the replies and pics coming. :smoke: Thanks again, Sid |

I have 4" rear drop coils from CPP, and in the front I have McGaughy 2.5" drop spindles with 1" drop coils and I really like how it sits...& the ride is excellent. Oh, and no C-Notch...and I've towed, hauled heavy loads in the bed, and accidently hit some mucho pot holes with no frame to rearend contact. :D
My truck is ugly...but it rides awesome  |
Re: Rear 4" drop, did you c-notch? pics please
It sits good. I hate to point it out but the side markers need to be reversed. The red ones go on the rear and amber on the front.

I've already swapped 'em. I didn't actually notice them until recently. Another booboo the PO did. and...thanks. My wife is always mystified that people always stop me and ask about it.

If you guys want to haul things then put air shocks in the back. Cheap and easy. My 78 rests on the bump stops normally. I can also throw 80psi into the shocks and then carry 600lbs of dirt bikes without bottoming out and have a nice comfy ride. I got my Monroe air shocks for $89 a pair with air lines and valve.

I have thought about doing mine like that. Fine adjustments with air shocks. Got any pics you could show us of shock location etc?

Re: Rear 4" drop, did you c-notch? pics please
my 69' has a 3/5 drop... No notch. I did use a adjustable track bar to be sure it was aligned correctly.

4" spring and 2" blocks?? or 5" spring and 1" block? not that it matter much, just wondering |
Re: Rear 4" drop, did you c-notch? pics please
I have a 2" block and a 4" spring and no c-notch, although I haven't drove mine yet I do not forsee any issues with it. I do plan to go to a 5" spring to get my wheel tucked a little more though and think I will still be fine
