Just pop that on a 4x4 chassis and you are ready to rock and roll. Looks pretty good in the pics for 7 grand US (Im guessing that's the exchange rate today).

This one looks good from far, but far from good. Little bit of rust! Potential though.

Have a real good look at the vertical piece of floor under the rear seat. Any rust showing in this area may indicate serious problems with the main body crossmember. To fix it is a really big job ,not for the inexperienced (like me !)

I would like to have a 4x4 panel or 'burb.....for the times the snow has gotten too deep for my Honda Accord.

Re: Still on the hunt for a 4x4

I'm honestly just gonna come to the realization that no matter what the truck is and how "little" or "mainly surface" rust they claim there is, Its just going to turn into way more than what its claimed to be. I love the term " They all have that rust in the normal places"!! I've had sellers tell me its a super clean and rust free truck and when i started pulling up carpet corners, poking my nose into places that the average buyer wouldn't look at they all pretty much have the same problems. I mean they ARE over 40+ years old.

I want to restore one from frame up so I'm honestly realizing that i'd rather buy a complete "rusty" rig for cheap and just replace everything as it would probably need anyway with a more expensive truck, and save myself the extra money upfront and have fun with the ugly rust repairs and know it was done correct.

ahhhhh the drama!!!

it is really odd how few 4x4 burbs are on the market right now. I am rather shocked to be honest.

What is your budget?

Re: Still on the hunt for a 4x4

There were fewer 4x4 Suburbans produced, and most of them were road hard and put away wet. So many have not made it this far in life, and have returned to mother earth in rust or are now Toyota's.

On a 4x4, I'd look for one w/ an NP205, disk brakes and open knuckles, which all came together in 71 I think.

If you are resourceful and handy, I wouldn't let that stop you from getting a good 4x4 67-70 Suburban. But think about the time and money to swap big ticket parts like that before you make a deal.

That's a nice complete Suburban 4x4, and just up the road from me as well.
Seller says "no rust", but I bet I would find it lol.. Been around these old girls long enough to know where to look, because they are all rust prone no matter where they live.

Re: Still on the hunt for a 4x4

dam! if that one was close Id buy it tonight!

I have tried to look at the one in Denver, the guy is a major flake, still waiting for him to tell me when he can show the burb to me. It probably is a good deal if someone is wanting to redo everything. I would have to put thousands into it just to get it usable.

Id pay 10k perhaps more, for what i am wanting. but there is just nothing out there that is not across the country or a rust bucket, or 30k
