Re: Mdo 69
Hello in Tennessee. Thank you guys for your comments.
I believe I have all the hardware that I may need to mount my tank. I'm going to need a few more feet of high pressure fuel hose, radiator hoses, and new oil filter. I ordered Trailblazer SS exhaust manifolds. I also have to add the fuse block and relays to my wiring harness. When I get all that put together I will attempt to start the engine. Hopefully by Sunday. Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Mdo 69
Hey Rudy, how did you apply the POR 15 to the frame?

Re: Mdo 69
I brushed it on, turned out really nice and smooth, I bought about 10 $1 brushes at the hardware store. I had to through them away after one use.

Re: Mdo 69
I recieved my Trailblazer SS exhaust manifolds today.
I'll bolt them up to the motor tomorrow and post some pictures. I mocked up the passenger side and it fit great, plenty of clearance. I might be speaking to soon, but I think $135 shipped from gmpartsdirect.com was a good deal. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Mdo 69
I'd say that is a good deal. Newer motors sound like a deal when people pull them from the scrap yard, but parts for them add up much faster than a Gen 1 or 2 small block! Good deal! Now hurry up and put them on so I can see how you run the exhaust!!! ;) Merry Christmas Btw! If you don't celebrate, happy 25th of December!

Re: Mdo 69
Your right about the co$t adding up Lefty, as far as the exhaust goes I'm not sure yet. Thanks for wishing me a Merry Christmas, same to you and yours.
I hope to fire it up this week. Posted via Mobile Device |

I got the tank intalled but not completed, I still need to modify the filler neck. The wiring harness is complete, atleast enough to fire up the motor.
I need to hook up the fuel lines and ground the motor. I put the Trailblazer SS manifold on the engine and had enough room between them and the frame that I was able to move the engine forward and use the old drive shaft. BIG PLUS. |

I received my Trailblazer SS exhaust manifolds from gmpartsdirect.com $135 shipped they fit great had no issues with shipping or quality.
I bolted them up and I am very pleased with the way they fit, I might have to grind a little on the passengers side frame rail. |
Re: Mdo 69
When I bought this truck it had an 89 tbi 350/700r4
I'm using the 89 model radiator, I looked at the upper and lower radiator hoses for a 2005 tahoe, since thats what my 5.3 came out of. I believe I can use those hoses with my radiator. Using the TBSS manifolds and the dirty dingo adjustable mounts, with late 70's early 80's motor mounts, I was able to use my new drive shaft that was actually made to work with the 350/700r4. |

I might need a new cab, I'm running out of time and I need to finish this truck by June. If anyone knows about a good cab near NC let me know, mean while I'll keep working on mine.

Re: Mdo 69
I got a line on a nice cab over here in TN. I am about an hour and 15 minutes from you. It doesn't belong to me, but I know the guy that has it. It has no title though. PM me for more info if you decide to go that way.

Re: Mdo 69
I lowered the rear 5" with CPP lowering springs, I used 4 degree shims and deluxe trac bar.
I used CPP rear shock relocator, I tried to used the factory ride height front shocks, they would not extend enought no even bolt on, I tried my stock rear shocks and they worked. I'm still working on the front suspension, I don't know what I'm going to do about the front shocks yet. Posted via Mobile Device |
