Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Consider me jelly! For the guys with 86 models, is the aux tank switch system (switch, harness, switching valve) just a plug and play with electric pumps and 87 tanks?

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Did you get the exhaust bolts out? I had one that was broken. Weld a nut on it and turn slowly until it's out. I had to do it about 5 times before getting it out. Aluminum heads are nice in that the weld wont stick to them :D

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
You can get a dryer cord from home depot and a 6-50 NEMA plug and make a short adapter cord. Just make sure your breaker is able to handle his welder.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Check out the last few pages of my build thread. The cheap eBay headers look the same as the ones I got from Amazon for 105 shipped. Don't fit unless you cut the passenger's side frame rail a bit.

Went gun and purse shopping with the wifey today so no real progress made. She's in bed now so I'm out in the garage cleaning up some parts.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
On the 4l80, how far should the slip you me go into the tail shaft? I ask because I need to order a yoke but they make the yokes in like four different lengths so I'm confused as to which one to order. Help please!

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Got these cool adapters for the 4l80 to convert to AN-6 for my custom transmission lines Im gonna make.
http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/...psrzykzs7j.jpg Also my buddy was teaching me to tig weld. This was my third try...not to bad for a newby? http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/...psxeirxhs9.jpg |
Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Figuring up my budget. I set a $5000 cap when I first started and wifey agreed to it. This is what I've spent to date and all I have left to buy is a few more AN fittings since I've decided to make my trans lines out of braided hose, a drive-shaft, and Ill have to get a new exhaust system because I refuse to hook this new engine to my rusted out flowmasters, lol. I should be waaaaay under my original budget! especially if you factor in the sale of my old drive-train for $450, and some other parts Ill be selling soon. The stuff with the 0 next to it is stuff that was either optional or that could have been done alot more cheaply. For example, you don't have to clean and paint everything. I could have spent about $40 less on regular fuel line instead of the braided, if I wouldn't have taken everything apart to paint, I wouldn't have needed all the gaskets....stuff like that.
http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/...psajehrs9l.jpg Im going to redo all this in WORD later for those that want to know what this swap cost. It should also be noted that I had more than one oportunity to purchase a complete 5.3 pullout with ALL accesories including the airbox, MAF,TAC harness and transmission for around the same price that I payed for this 6.0 that came with none of that. So I could have shaved around $1000 off this list if I just would have went for the 5.3 swap. |

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
I just did my hydroboost, fuel to carb and trans lines with those AN fittings. Opens up all sorts of options for lines...

Wish I could just find a cheap driveshaft out of a silverado so I'd have the exact yoke I need. All these options are confusing the crap out of me! |
