Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
I just had to get in on this thread. I can tell its going to be another 20 page thread. I'm going to try and order a set on thursday. I was trying to hold out until we could see a truck with the new wheels on. Does any one know for sure if there will be another order placed next week?

I sure hope someone posts some pics once they get their wheels. I'm curious how the 20x10s look with an adapter in place.

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
Well...got some bad news boys. The new revised fronts don't fit. Looks like it is the same issue as before, it won't seat all the way down onto the rotor, looks like it is tight at the front of the hub bore like before.
And just to sweeten the deal  the rear 20x10 will require a spacer to fit. I didn't have the tires on but it looks like (judging by sight) about a 1/4 to 1/2" spacer to not rub on the inside of the fender well. Well, we are dealing with Boss here, what did we expect  |

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
Hey brossow,
don't get all pissy on me, I'm not blaming them for the BS, I had expected I might need a spacer on the rear, no biggie. But I am blaming them for a revised wheel that does not fit. Box said right on it 3AA. There is a picture of the label in a thread I posted this morning. I'll take some pics of the figment issue when I get home, at the tire store right now. I might get away with a little grinding on the tip of the hub. |

Don't want to argue; just surprised by all the people willing to lay out a LOT of money without even knowing what it is they actually need vs. what they'd be getting. Not specifically including you among them -- just making a general observation. Brent |
Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
so does this mean the re-tooled rims dont fit either?

@Leviticus
I looked at your thread and the part number on your box is for 20x10 even tho it says its for 20x8.5 on your box. I kinda find that odd.... |
Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
on the boss website I can even see A 20x8.5 with 5 on 5. what is the correct bolt pattern for a 72?

I've posted this info multiple times, but once more won't hurt. The national number for American Eagle Wheels (the company behind Boss and several other brands) is 909-590-8828. To find a local distributor, go here: http://americaneaglewheel.com/distributor.cfm. I encourage people to call, ask questions, demand answers, and report back with your findings. Might help to play dumb and just see what they tell you. Some items of interest include:
I'm sure there are many other questions as well, but those come immediately to mind. EDIT: You might also consider asking questions in response to their blog post about the revised wheels. The blog is their PR piece, so if they start seeing a lot of public questions they might be more responsive. Please be courteous if you go this route. Brent |

Not trying to fight with ya:m3:, I knew the 20x10 was a toss up on fitment, I was the one over in the other Boss thread saying I will see if it fits or not. I'm not just some idiot shelling out cash thinking they will fit, I was willing to take the risk to run the 10"s in the back. The fronts on the other hand are somewhat frustrating, but I was expecting the old version when I ordered them so I am just truckin on:smoke: Anyways, I'll let you guys know what I can work out on them, I have some 1/4" spacers for the rear I am going to try to see if they get me clear. And we will see how much material I am going to have to take off the front hub. I'll keep you all posted, on a good note, the tires look sweeet on the wheels! |

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
Ok, guys,
Here are some pics of the front fitment issue. It looks like it is just hitting the front edge of the hub bore, from what I can tell, nothing behind where it is hitting towards the front of the wheel is an issue. Its hard to judge how far off the rotor face it is sitting cause the wheels wants to oscillate on the hub but it looks like about a 1/4" or less. I think we are better off than the old version, but not direct fit. I pulled my Caliper Gauge out to get you numbers on the hub bore but its and electric one and the battery was dead (left it on doh!) I'll get some batteries for it today. You can see where its hitting in the hub in the pics. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...g/DSC04011.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...g/DSC04012.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...g/DSC04013.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...g/DSC04014.jpg |

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
I think there is a problem with your order Leviticus. That part number is suppose to have a Hub Bore of 94.62 (3.725 Inch). This was confirmed on the phone with Troy from American Eagle, Troy has my contact info and will be calling me back with more of an explanation.
http://www.elites-wholesale.com/Shop...d/0/rid/126374 This website also shows the new hub size. |
Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
Ok, guys,
A little redneck machining aka a grinder and they slid right on!! Looks like the fronts are solved, now onto the rears. Before and after, you only have to take a little off, not much. Havent tried the new revised center cap yet but will let you know in a few. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...g/DSC04014.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...g/DSC04015.jpg |

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
Im still a little confused or retarded or both. Laviticus you wrote that they still didn't fit. Is that the 20" or the 18"s? So, this group buy is for the new version, with the modes so we DON'T have to use a spacer and it fits the hub on the front right?
I want (2x) 18x8 and (2x) 18x9.5 in grey to go on my '71 frame with stock rotors. I am getting CPP's Modular Dropped Spindles, with lowered springs. Also is there any issue with the Shipping address being different than the Billing address. Since I am working in a different state with the Army. |

Brent, Loot at the pictures of the hub bore on my other post, the taper from the back to the front of the wheel. They are deffinately the new design, I think some genius at Boss thought we were having fitment issues at the base of the hub and not the front. Either way, it was a five minute fix and I got em on. As for the rears :dohh: when I was at my tire store I had them pull a tamper proof lug nut off that I didn't have the key for, well he got it off and he grabbed a replacement lug nut and proceeded to put it on. Well I walked around the back of my truck and noticed his impact wrench was hammering all the way down the threads not just when it snugged up. The damage was done, he either cross threaded it or used the wrong lug nut. When I went to pull it off it was really tight on the threads, it spun about 1 and a 1/2 turns then stripped the splines inside the drum:uhmk:. So I call em, they say yeah bring it back down, I drive all the way back to town and they say they can't fix it till tomorrow...it has been one of those days, its beer time now! I'll pull the other side and see if the 1/4" spacer will work...after I finish this beer:lol: |
Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
I did get some funny looks driving back into town with 20's on the front and 15" Cragars on the rear though, maybe it will catch on as the new fad....man I sure hope not:lol:
