Appreciate that man & appreciate all of the comments I've gotten so far on that topic & in general about the build!

Got a suggestion u might be interested in on ur mirrors, i have been talking to another member on here and both of his trucks he has/had have these mirrors on them, they are off 89-91 burbs and blazers and they look slick.

Attachment 898823
Attachment 898824

Think it would look pretty good on your design.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

They look nice & I appreciate the suggestion but I've already decided on the new factory looking one's from LMC Truck that are heated & all. The truck originally had the big towing mirrors, but I've always really liked the factory mirrors appearance.

Both of those trucks look really nice though!!!

Just won the bidding on a N.O.S. GM grille bowtie off of eBay  - more than I wanted to pay really , but I wanted it to go along with that black NOS grille I'd already bought... it's looking like the whole front end sans the LMC Truck chrome bumper will be all N.O.S. parts!!!

Keven's still making good headway on all the wiring work, but found out the power lock switches we bought are "converting" the signal internally, so he has to adjust the wiring to adjust for that in order to get 'em working.

Mario can't build the new headers without the truck actually being there with him at the shop, so we're gonna have to do the start-up & run checks with those Street & Performance headers I'd originally purchased. It's gonna be loud as !!!:metal:

Promise everyone that I'll get a video posted of it running once we get there!!!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Looks good man, truck is gonna be sweet! I installed headers on my 77 dodge and drove it to the exhaust shop about 7 miles away, had earplugs in and it still rattled my brain! but i loved every minute of it! luckily no cops heard me:lol: Cant wait for the vids.

Ok, I'm truly starting to think that N.O.S. is actually an abbreviation for some sort of obsessive illness!!! I can't seem to leave it alone & just won the bidding on eBay for a set of upper & lower grille trim for my truck.

I wouldn't have had to do this if the ones that were supposed to be included with the N.O.S. headlight bezels I won wouldn't have been "lost" during shipment to the shop....

:whine:

Not a whole lot to report on picture or other wise, Keven spent the time he had on the truck this week working on & correcting wiring issues, so not a whole lot of "photo worthy" stuff to add this week unfortunately...

:banghead:

I almost bid on a bowtie just like that, im glad I didn't! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/i...milies/lol.gif

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Yeah, unfortunately it can get out of hand pretty quickly.... There was another Bowtie on there though out of the original box - was still in new condition though & would've most likely gone for less than mine did.

There's a set of N.O.S. front fenders on there too - but $950.00, come on......

While we're all on the subject of "NOS" - I've been tossing around this idea for a little bit now since shying away from the supercharger deal.

It's the Zex LS perimeter plate nitrous system - normally not fond of the Zex kits due to their purple color, but this is one of the "blackout" kits! 100hp is the lowest jetting & I surely wouldn't go anymore than that with it!

It'd be more for "show" than for "go", but would still be a blast to use every once in a while & while I'm making dyno runs!!!

No, not a chance in hell... Maybe show it off if I can make one of the LS Fest's though & be fun to use it when I dyno the truck too!!!

Well, rough as the drawing is - this is kind of what I'm thinking of doing for the rear bumper we want to build.

Wanted to keep the general appearance of what's on there now, but add in some features to match the front push bar & some of the other fabricated items.

The outer "arms" would be in rectangular fully boxed steel.
The "divider" plates for the center section would be in 3/8" plate with holes cut out in the angled protrusion for a set of D-rings.
The center section for the license plate could be out of "C" channel with gussets connecting it to the "divider plates.
License plate would get LED fasteners for illumination.
At the bottom of the "divider" plates would be a 2"x2" square tube to match the front push bars upper tube.
The CL IV receiver hitch could sit between the bottom of the "C" channel & the square tubing.
The angled "gussets" under the box tubing would be 1/2" plate - drew one with holes cut in & one without to see what I wanted - these would be for lightening as well as to match some of the other fabricated items.
You can see about where we'd put the LED reverse lights back in too.

Anyhow, I sent this to Keven for his input & sure he'll make it even better, but wanted to garner the thoughts of the people on the forum too!

Let me know!

And so none of you have to flip back a bunch of pages - here's the shot of my front push bar posted previously. Also posting another of the rear bumper that was on the truck when I bought it & that we modified with the LED backup lights - keeps kind of the same overall look.

So many people commented on the bed shortening idea - no one wants to chime in on the rear bumper plan???

Well, My $0.02 is that you should fab it up like the pics of the shop owners or who ever he is on that dodge. I think that looks sweet, and i think it should have lke a 8" drop on there too, look a little more heavy duty that way, but that is just me. Here is a pic of a 10" drop bumper

Attachment 900408

It would look sweet if you could trim this out incorporating the black and chrome like you did on your wheels! Whatever you do i am sure it is gonna be awesome! :metal:

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Yeah, the one Keven did for his Dodge was AMAZING, but it wouldn't "flow" with the overall look of my truck - a little to modern. \

Have thought of somehow incorporating some chrome into the rear, just not 100% sure how & where right now... Hoping for feedback from Keven come Monday!

JPalmer81 03-31-2012 11:17 PM

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

It looks like they def do some good work! I think that the bumper that is on there currently you should get away from that design, think maybe the ends need to be beveled somehow, just dont look right having square ends like that. Hard envisioning something when ur not looking right at it though.

my4by2 03-31-2012 11:43 PM

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Well, the square ends tie into the "square body" theme - as well as the side step rails & what we did with the front push bar.

As for the ends - sure Keven may have some ideas - would like to see them wrap around the bed sides a bit, but wasn't really sure how to draw that in there. Talking to Ryan about getting a little rendering done of the rear of the truck & this bumper design so I can easily "tweak it" after seeing it for "real". He's ties up with a bunch of SEMA work, so may be a little bit before I can get something like that done...

Anxious to get Keven's input on it on Monday like I said, he's a killer fabricator & knows the overall look we're after on the truck, so he'll have a good say in it!

Found this pic via a Google image search - kind of like what I was thinking as far as wrapping the ends around. Keven would need to add material, but would be nothing for him...

Also would need that little kick out on the top under the tailgate. Maybe could go with the same type of step material we used on the side steps on the top of the bumper too.

I am TOTALLY ripping of the front one. I'll be building mine the full width but this is a perfect start

As for the rear, likely the same concept just a few tweaks to make it more "work" friendly

but love the front one
