72 Oshawa truck.... Don't think I've seen one with print in the "SE" portion. What does that refer to?
Edit: It appears many (all?) Oshawa trucks had something printed for SE..... Still wondering what SE stand for. |

My truck is a low optioned '72 GMC. I'm wondering, my truck appears to be very original but has a few things that are not listed on the SPID, like chrome sport bumpers front and rear. Would something like the bumpers always be listed on the SPID if it was factory installed?

Someone please enlighten me. The SPID in the following picture raises 2 questions.
1. Is it possible to have a factory black door on a "WHITE/OCHRE/WHITE" colored truck? Was it black because the interior trim was "Parchment". I'm thinking not because my brother has this color combo in a Super and his glove box door is OCHRE. 2. The V.I.N. font seems different than what I've seen in the past, is it right? Or specific to a build plant? I removed the sticker because I'm using the glove box door for another purpose and I can tell it is definitely original (aging, nothing else under it, etc.). |

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Throwing my 2 cents in because people here love to solve these mysteries and of course so many are skeptical about the "realness" of Cheyenne's and Supers...
Unlike non Supers which had visibly painted glove box faces, my guess is it could just be to save the effort of painting or was forgotten and not worth the effort to fix since when closed it would be covered by the woodgrain. The Super glove box doors I've seen had a thin aluminum cover skin which the woodgrain was applied to. If everything else checks out, I'd say they grabbed a black door stuck the aluminum/wood grain skin on and slapped the SPID on it....consistent with what Joe's Junk said. |

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Man down seeks help. I know I will probably never know the right answer, but my 72 Chevy step-side did not come with a SPID. The original bench seat was also replaced, so I think my only hope is to find someone with the SPID my truck may have had. I know per the V.I.N. that my truck is a 72 Chevy that originally came with a V6 motor, manufactured in Fremont, Ca and was number 176893. Does anyone have a SPID close to that? Thank you

But do you realize that even if you found a spid for the next numerical VIN after your truck, it wouldn't tell you anything about your truck? Each truck could be very different from one to the next. |

Here’s an odd one that appears to be a misprint. Lists white/medium olive with green cloth trim but the truck also lists medium blue/blue vinyl trim. I thought it was kind of cool. Found on Facebook.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
In 1972, St Louis most likely built more of these trucks than any other plant in any of the model years 67-72. I would't be surprised if 114544 wasn't a Labor Day Weekend truck (or rather Labor Day hangover truck). Regardless, they were probably doing well to get blank SPIDs in the machine they were spitting them out so fast.

I have been looking for what this code might mean and I think this is the last place to check as the gm heritage center does not even have an answer on the SE code which is PT06 2117 on my 1970 Chevrolet k20 my SE spot is filled out where I don't see it on other trucks the vin is KE2401111049 and the
