Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Appreciate all the positive comments guys!!!
Trust me, I really didn't expect it to pull like it did either.... Had been worried about that intake choice, but whatever I may have lost in the low end obviously wasn't really needed in the first place.... Hehe |
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Mario's almost fully moved into his new shop, so once WFO is done with my truck in a month or so, he has the space to take it in right away thankfully!!! His old shop is now occupied by the one that'll be building my custom headers & exhaust:
http://www.bigheadcars.com/ Went over to his shop while I was over at Mario's & MAN does he do some freakin' KILLER work!!!!!!!! |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
I knew it would have power, but didn't expect that large of a truck to feel like a tiny little 1/2-ton short bed when I took off in it.... Have driven stock LS motors & lot's of standard cab square's with decent motors in 'em, but never a combo like this!!!

I am very jealous, sir. I wish my Duramax would book it like that, haha. Sweet video though, definitely looked fun! :metal:

Keven will be working on fab'ing up a spare tire carrier this morning. We decided against using the one I bought from Tire Gate as it sat flush on the floor... Want it to be elevated & angled a bit. Luckily he can still use parts of the kit for it! Toolbox is bolted down & he's also working on the bed under-rail lights & Beau is setting the gauge parameters in the ECM. Should be with them until the end of June I would think before it heads off to Mario to be totally torn back apart.... Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Dual spare carrier... Cuz big needs big
|
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
No, not dual - just a single carrier between the rear wheel wells.

Awww.... so much for tryin' to add some weight to that thing to slow it down and give others a fighting chance

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Still got the 40 gallon fuel tank to install - that'll add a BUNCH!!!

A lot going on as of late, but not too many pics to share... This is the spare tire carrier that Keven fab'd up to use instead of the Tire Gate one that laid the tire flat.
He also got the under rail bed lights installed. Beau's out of the shop for a few days this week, so maybe he can finally get the rear bumper designed on the solid works too!!! |
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Too sweet to hide that!
|
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
So Im guessing you arent going to use it as an actual truck?

No, the most that will probably ever be back there is some groceries... As for the bed floor, we're doing Line-X under-the-rails in black. That'll get done after or during all the paint & body work.

Here's how Keven is mounting the under-rail bed lighting - the wiring will still need to be better secured, but he welded on a neat little bracket under there rather than just use the 3M double-sided tape the lights came with.
He's also going to run a light inside the toolbox that will light up when it's opened up. |

Here's the front quick connect Keven installed for my jumper cables. This way I won't have open the hood if I ever need to jump anyone off or anything.
