Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Yeah, Keven actually read the post & was none to happy about it either.............
Have given it quite a bit of thought & think a break is indeed in order - at the very least just to get everyone on the same page as I am right now & to also talk about lowering some of the lofty goals I've been adding as this has all gone along. Specifically I want to talk to Mario about the paint, body, interior, etc & reeling it back to "driver quality" & get the hell away from making a show vehicle. I've sent him an email talking about all of this & want to hear back from him & get his thoughts before I move the truck to that stage so we'll see. WFO is almost done with their end, so no need to hold them up really or change anything we were doing there as the mechanical end is already locked-in & staying the same. Keven's SUPER busy right now so even working on my truck is a problem right now, but maybe after the Jamboree deal it'll be better for all of us. I've got so much invested in this darn thing that there's really not many options on the table aside from finishing it... Stay tuned & I'll keep everyone abreast of what transpires & what's going to be happening. |

I have been in the same frame of mind with cars and trucks before and some times "scale back" makes the most sense. Good luck and thanks for your service. |
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Man I feel for ya, I've been on both sides of this fence and it is a tough decision. Don't rush and do some thing you will regret. Even if your truck had a nice not show quality paint job, it'll still win at shows. The innovative technology put in it alone will win the people over. Good luck with your decision.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
My vote is for finishing a driver! It'd be an awesome truck to cruise every day, rain or shine. I'm sure you'd get many many years of satisfaction out of it. But I don't pay the bills, so good luck to you deciding how to go forward.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Nothing new to report this week as far as work this week as Keven's been tied up on other projects & then of course we had the whole "project movement" issues.....
I am re-focused to finish the truck, but after a little more work from WFO, we're going to have a little respite before continuing into the body/paint stage. I am still wanting Mario to do all that - could save money doing it with someone else, but really don't want to "skimp out" on the single part of the truck that gets seen the most... I am "dressing down" the interior plans though from where I was headed - going back to more of a "driver quality" interior plan with the vinyl seats & rubber floors - may not be as nice, but will definitely be functional! Keven will most likely re-build the spare tire carrier next week & maybe get to a few other items with any luck. Still waiting to hear from Trevor on the Bilstein shock upgrade & if we can actually use them, but nothing yet. Anyway, I really appreciate all the feedback & support for my project from everyone!!!! |

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
I still think your truck will be show worthy, don't worry! I agree with your decision on keeping Mario doing the work. Not only will it be quality, but it will last longer so you can enjoy it longer. Keep it up man!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
There's way lesser quality trucks out there showing. yours is going to look great. I think I actually like the nice trucks that get drove and used over the strickly show jobs. But the attention to detail and craftsmanship of the strickly show jobs is inspirering.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
If my simple build will be nice and show worthy, yours will not have ANY problems! Make the interior nice, but not over the top! The materials I chose for the interior were done so I could use the truck and not fear hurting it...follow a similar philosophy. finish the project, drive the hell out of it and enjoy the compliments you will get on a daily basis...

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Yep, they're all really great guys & have loved the times I've been able to hang around the shop with them.
The company is just kind of at a point where they really need to grow quite a bit, but it would take a considerable amount of money to do so & put them in the "hole" for a lot of years & with the economy still "iffy", they just don't seem to want to push for that at this time. They've been working on completing a Land Cruiser project they need to get out while mine's on a sort of "hiatus". As soon as he can though Keven will get back on it & work on the stuff he still needs to finish up. |
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
