Jwill,

It definitely needs body work and subsequent paint. This truck is a 10-footer if there ever was one. Bed and drip rails are rusted pretty good and doors and sills have some rust as well. By the time I do all that and shave the original gas filler, it will need paint. Plus that color from the PO is 1984 Toyota Sienna Beige, so not exactly an emotional attachment to 'original'. But thanks for the comments...I'll keep everyone updated on my decision.

Heres a before and after of our truck. Bought it in 12/06 w/ a 283/350 combo that someone had put in. Bought an LS1/4L60 to put in planned for winter of '07- I was gonna fix the rust first. Blew a head gasket at the end of 2/07. Transplant performed between 3/07 and 6/07; re-started for the first time on 6/7/07. That also fixed all of the leaks!

Just got it a couple days ago.

Love it. Can't stop looking at stuff to fix or repair. This is great site for info.

Needs the usual, winshield gasket, cld use new door seals, washer fluid pump, headlight relays and new plugs possible. couple pathes in the floor, and a gas guage or better yet a new guage panel.

1972 Chevy Cheyenne: 97,000 original miles. I bought this from the original owner. It cost 4,100 new in 1972. It has ps,pb, and factory A/C. Runs like a dream. Tony

My whole build is at the Jumpin Jimmy link below. 1972 GMC money pit. But we love it and can't wait to get her on the road. Looks like she will finish up in the next 2 or 3 months.

Welcome to the board from Western Canada. I think you have a unique truck there. A black CST in decent shape. Its worth whatever you paid and probably more. Your truck is the same shape as mine was in 2001 when I bought it. You can if you desire, drive your truck daily and also change/improve/upgrade items as you go. This site is excellent for learning about your truck and how to fix and do things to it.
