My fender badges are done & DAMN do they look freakin' AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! Cannot wait to see these things on my truck - and the cab side badges I showed you earlier in the thread will compliment this one as well! Steve over at Billet Badges is the best at what he does!!!!! :metal:

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Pricing for his work varies by what you want exactly, but I assure you it's VERY reasonable!!! This is the second time I've used him & his work is phenomenal!!! He cut me a little break because my truck will almost certainly be shown in a magazine or two & will be entered in a lot of car shows as well so I will mention him & his business frequently - but even without that, he's still priced great! Just have to discuss what you want with him & he'll let you know.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Mario couldn't make it up today due to a meeting about his new shop location, but is promising me that Monday is the day! Looking forward to hearing his input on the body & paint plans. The guys at WFO didn't get as much done this week as we'd hoped due to another project getting ready for Rubicon, but that's life I guess... Will get more pics posted as soon as I can.

Badges look killer, the fab work is top notch and I love the level of detail your putting into this build. keep it up and keep the photo's coming

The push bar (minus light) & side step basic designs can be seen on the rendering that's in this thread way back near the beginning, but the headache rack was only in the first version of my renderings - the one that appeared in last months Truckin' magazine. I also am attaching a few "example" pics of kind of what I have in mind for these two items. On the side bars though, I want them build with square tubing rather the oval stuff used in these pics. Think that the square tubing will go much better with the whole "square body" design! I have a set of diamond plate bed rails & caps that will be going onto the truck after being powder coated & the headache rack will also have diamond plate on the sides to match the appearance & go with the in-bed toolbox I already purchased. They also have to fab me up a set of diamond plate mud guards to go behind each tire... All of these will get powder coated black like everything else has, but the headache rack will hopefully incorporate polished aluminum for the center section. It'll also have LED brake lights built into it to follow the "all LED" scheme I am going with. All-in-all I think these mods will really set the truck off & make it stand out a lot better. Wish there were "off-the-shelf" parts that would do the trick, but alas there was nothing that did it for me out there... Keep your eyes peeled & I hopefully will have pics of all of this happening in the near future!!! |

And BTW - the front push bar Keven's gonna be fabricating will get an Xmitter LED light bar on top of the lower cross beam to match the LED headlights I am going with. All told it's gonna be a heck of a lot of light coming off the front of this thing!!!

Here's the first version of my renderings when it still had the headache rack. Wasn't included in the final rendering, but we've since decided to go back with it. Should pretty much look like it does in this pic, but we'll see once the fab starts shortly.
This rendering also had different wheels & lacked the diamond plate bed rails too... |
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Another week ahead of us - hoping for some good progress!!! Radiator should arrive this week - YEAH! Will post more pics as soon as I get 'em!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Mario made it up to the shop today to look over the truck. Looks like he wants to try to get it fully media blasted & primed prior to getting started on anything. Supposed to get me a bid out pretty soon so we'll see!

Found this pic on another thread & just fell in love with the overall look of the cover they made for the radiator!!! Needless to say I already sent an email to Trevor at the shop instructing him to build something similar for my truck once they start the radiator installation!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Not that it matters a whole lot, but in case you didnt notice, that is a newer body style truck (88-9?). Regardless, im sure something very similar could be fabbed. Would look cool!
|
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Yep noticed it - as did the shop. What they fab for mine will be a lot different I am sure, just like the overall look.

Well, filler neck is finally welded solid to the fuel tank so Keven began welding in the inner bed cover for it as you can see. Whole inside of the bed will get Line-X'd, so it'll be safe!

And here's a shot of the new McLeod throwout bearing assembly bolted on the front of my NV4500 - gonna be a lot cleaner I think than a slave cylinder & bracket bolted to the side of the bell housing.... Although the future replacement of it will require a little more work!
Hoping that they can get the new Mast motor installed pretty soon & start mocking up the front end finally!!! |
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Looks like it is going pretty good! I bet you're excited to get it all together! I think your painter is doing another members truck, superflysteiny.
|
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Yep, he is working with a couple of members - namely the 72dropmember build that I know of. Does some GREAT work & like that he does metal work over just slapping on filler!!!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Which McLeod t/o bearing did you use? How did you find out about it? Has anyone else ever done it? Thanks, Bradley
|
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
Actually it was Trevor at the shop that did the research & found out all about it. We'd been going back & forth for quite some time about what exactly we were gonna do about the whole clutch deal... Here's a link the McLeod site that shows you the kit we used for the GM NV4500 I have (13625).

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
You think it's worth the $600?
|
Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build
To solve the issues we were having with header interference & to get the project rolling again - definitely!!! It's not as if it's some "experimental" technology or anything, it's a tried & true clutch activation method. Besides, I prefer the overall cleanliness & look of just two braided stainless lines coming out of the bell housing rather than a clutch fork attached to a slave cylinder bolted to the side... Besides, $600 isn't exactly a giant sum when you look at it relative to the overall build.
