Switched out my custom grill

The old custom one:

The new/used one:

It's got a broken piece at the top where the release is, but I like it a lot more already... :)

10 times better! No offense but that old grille reminds me of the land barge station wagon Clark bought in the National Lampoons movie.

That`s how they end up.The ol`2-finger job leads to more:sexy:.I have one just like it.I`m sure no matter what glue I`d use, gluing the piece back wouldn`t last.
Hey!!You should Ebay that "custom" grille, start with a buck and see what happens.

I think I'll just scavange it for parts. It's got the turn signals, and mounting brackets. I'll pulll them off. After that, it's just chicken wire and a screwed outer grill trim... :barf:

I do have a '69-70 grill that I got with the truck that I'm going to list. It's got a few issues (typical dinks, scratches, a little bending on the bottom...)

It really helped getting the used grill with all the fittings on it. The only hassle I had was those damn hood corner bump stops. Soaked them in WD40 for and hour and still couldn't get them to turn without horking up the rubber pads. The phillips screw slot on top was totally worthless. I had three sets between all the grillls and didn't end up with one good one... I'm hoping they are available at Napa or through "help parts." New rubber would work if I could get it on the bolts.

Now I've just got to do a search and find out what folks use for painting the inner grill black.

Looks a whole lot better with the stock grill. Don't you just love messing with those 30 year old bump stops

some of the vendors on the board have the bumpers for 2-3 bucks, i think. could do if they aren't in the help section.

much better looking, btw. the custom one reminds me of some of the '60s-'70s custom vehicles in the World of Wheels :)

That's exactly right! I knew it reminded me of something and you nailed it.

Great improvement!

It reminds me of my dads old jeep truck (this isn't his truck, just a pic I found, my dads truck was a rusted out POS)

Re: Switched out my custom grill

That area where the hood bump stops are can be a bear.I`ve seen California rustfree trucks have issues on the inside surface of the fender where that bracket/brace is fastened.Alot of the water off the hood runs into the gap at the fender, down that top ledge,to that corner, then the grille`s front face stops it.When I was a truck, then raise the hood, there`s always a puddle there.
Hey Mordachai,watch out....you`re next.j/k:hh:

Mid-day lighting makes this hard to see, but I just finished doing the blackout treatment and I think it helps a lot. I've got another insert coming, so I'll see which I like better...
