Logo and Patina tips NEEDED
 

I was crusin' the earlier truck links and came across some cool new old looking door logos. Does anyone have a good link that might direct me to how this is accomplished? Besides painting it on and waiting 50 years. I have a friend into street rods and he had someone do this for his car. Like these. Just something to do until I get the real paint on.

like to know the process myself. I plan on having some (antiqued) lettering done on my truck since it's not going to be painted anytime this century......

I plan on checking with a few sign shops and custom striping guys.

I am no where near talented enough to try lettering........

I got the paint. On the truck and in a tube. The weathered look in the lettering is what I am trying to achieve on this truck.

It is kind of a bastage anyhow. Wrong motor, original v8 now corvette and oh yeah 2barrel Rochester on that. Fenders on all for corners wrong. Five hole wheels. Definately in need of a logo. You can paint the letters on,then wet sand it down.They also scrub with Ajax cleaner and it comes back up.

The guy that done mine told me to lightly sand it to look even older.

Thanks, I tried my hand at it using all sorts of colors on top of one another (acrylic enamel) and drove around a while and took it to the carwash. Blew off a little too much but it was starting to look old and used. I will sand or wash it again tomorrow night just for fun. i will spray it with flat clear once I get to what I'm looking for. I guess the biggest trick is where to find time to experiment.

Here is my first test With JED being my sons initails and it helped me occupi him as he is five and not excited nuch unless his names is used. This is after hi-pressure car wash and another coating. Actually it isn't another coating, just filling in a bunch of spaces. Experiment in motion I guess.

That is cool. I was close today until I got greedy with process. I laid on some new paint and might try sanding tomorrow weather permitting. I was kinda sloppy with lettering but just wanted to see how it faired. I do like the edges of writing staying put and the writing inside te outline getting washed away. Your lettering looks good. Try sharpening the edges a little more, then wet sand.

Any more pics of the first truck (Hot Rod City '67) ?

you can thin your paint then also use scotch brite then let dry. also can dob it off before it dries just depends on the desired look. those are the two methods i always use usually works very well.

there is a how to in either custom classic truck or classic trucks that im trying to find to share with the boardbut if someone else knows about it faster that might help you a quite a bit it was pretty informative.

wonder how much Brian charges for a great looking job like that.
