Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
Wouldn't a 2.92 in the rear take that LT1 forever to get that big ass truck moving?? Probably can't even hear it running at highway speeds. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!
|
Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
you are absolutly right, and I think it was either a typo, or the owner not knowing what he's talking about.
|
Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
Looks like a decent ride... not sure if it's worth $16,500.

Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
i like the tach i feel that if your are going to restore a c-10 and are useing the factory gauges why not just go the extra mile and put the tach in it
|
Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
id say 16,500 is probley right on,
|
Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
and that corvette motor looks a lil out of place in that truck dont you all think
|
Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
It sure is pretty...I don't know about $16,500 pretty, but good looking none-the-less! I can't tell from the angle of the pics, is it a lwb or short?

Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
That thing is well worth the money he`s asking,is a beautiful truck,he`s got way way more in it,the motor out of place???,and wheels, steering wheel, and shift knob are things even the simplest minded fool can change for relatively few bucks along with a little detailing and turn around and ask $25,000 for it*.Many who look away would then be drooling over that.Is it not worth it because we can`t afford it?
Thanks for sharing.I wish I had the money to buy such a nice truck in one of the most popular color combos and all the hard stuff done, quite nicely. A shortbed isn`t a big heavy truck.GM used 2.73 10-bolts in the`80s coupled with o/d trans. My friend just swapped one back into his`85 shortbed that someone had put a 3.42s in.He wants to drive it and still eat three meals a day.I imagine with that effecient motor,o/d,and tall gears that Cheyenne could cut fuel cost noticeably. The torque and horsepower will more than make up for the tall gearing. *and, change exhaust a bit? |
Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
That motor looks lost way down in that cavernous engine compartment... ((alot like the small block in my '81 chevy.. ))

Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
Well all I can say is...I wouldn't kick it out of my garage for leaking oil! That is a very nice looking truck. IMHO ;) Is it worth $16,500? I would say yes because I am getting to know first hand what it takes $$$ wise to restore a truck...as well as others can testify due to their experience.

Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
sweet truck, i'd drive it and be proud--after i changed the shift handle of course. i think the price is very reasonable since around here a nice paint job will cost 10 grand on up-- if you can find a shop that will do it. they only want to do insurance jobs since it's quick and easy money. thanks for the pics.

Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
I like that motor and with the way thing are going it prob gets better mpg than my 396 bb or sbc400.I would drive it!

Re: check out this 71 cheyenne

Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
The price seems very reasonable to me. I have a lot of money into my truck and it's not even close to being as nice as that. I'd love to have it.

Re: check out this 71 cheyenne
I had a Caprice, yeah a car, but it weighed in at over 4K lbs so kinda like a short bed truck in that sense and I got 20-22 MPG with an iron headed LT1/4l60e and a 3:08 or 2:73 gear. It wasn't a front wheels off the ground launch, but at 80 it'd drop into second and hit 110 in a few seconds, all the while smooth as glass with the AC blowing snow flakes!! $16.5 is a STEAL!! Build one, before you dog someone elses, and I don't mean a rat rod, I mean build one from the frame up and see what it costs (not just in dollars either!!) I put together a truck for a member here and I didn't do a frame off, but I cleaned up the frame, painted it, reset and replaced panel, installed a motor in it, yadda yadda, and the money was the least of my problems, it was my time and sanity that took a beating. I agree with Tim (SpecialK and others) is $16.5 too expensive just cause you don't have the $$$, if that is the case keep the nit picking to yourself. If you have a $20k rig you can throw stones or do the right thing and let he who have no sin cast the first one, how's that sound?? Anonymity makes some folks experts on vehicles doesn't it?!
