Congrats on going to McPherson College. I was offered football scholarship there in 1998 but wasn't sure about the auto degree so I went elsewhere. You can use Google Books to find resources and do some reading. I believe you can only read so many pages, but I did a search on "chevy trucks" and got some good write-ups, here's one: http://books.google.com/books?id=aBu...trucks#PPA7,M1

Always site your sources and don't adopt their style, use your own. Good luck!

Check out the local B&N for some good titles on Chevrolet trucks.I have found quite a few there. You could also buy a few from www.motorbooks.com and take them off at tax time as research material.

If you want to write a paper to be taken seriously... the Internet is NOT a source. Use it to track down genuine primary sources, but don't reference Internet information. It's generally wrong.

There was an excellent article in Classic Trucks magazine a few years back that talked to the designer of our trucks. They interviewed him on our trucks down to the smallest minutae. That article would be gold.

oh sry i ment 750 words... my bad thanks guys im going to look into this.. i procrastinated for a year now but oh well... i got 2 weeks left

Re: Need Help On Some History

750 words? that's easy...

Make it read like the Bible...

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth... and after he screwed with the Fords...he gave us Chevrolet!!!"

maybe not a good idea for an entry paper, save that one for creative writing...

Good luck.. make sure you cite your references per the appropriate method that you've been given...

I don't mean to sound heartless, but it's gonna come out like that anyway.

You've had a year to put together a 750-word paper, and now you're down to 2 weeks? We've been here all that time and had the same advice you're getting now. There's all kinds of reference materials that have been written about these trucks. Like said earlier, a trip to Barnes and Noble bookstore, or Books-A-Million, or Hastings will have you spending time with the books and money to bring them home, if your library doesn't have a copy.

Yeah, I'm a dad with 5 grown kids, so you know I've had this same speech for them, just like my dad did for me when I procrastinated. It's the nature of being a kid in school. Heck, I didn't even go to class when I was in college. That little trick got me two trips, halfway around the world.....as I avoided the draft....yep, I'm a draft dodger....enlisted.

Edit: The designer for these GM trucks was Harry Bentley Bradley.

I only visit on occasion, not a long time member. But I assume it's probably going through the evil of it's own success. Either way, there's still some seriously badass builds to watch.

Re: Need Help On Some History

well i am sry to some of you people that i work two jobs go to school and find time to restore my 72!!....here is what i came up with so far

History of Chevrolet Pickups
Chevrolet has introduced many different models of pickups throughout the years. Not only have they upgraded in style, but also in functionality.
Chevrolet has a slogan that goes along with all their truck. It is called, “The Heartbeat of America”. Between the years 1918 to present day, Chevrolet has been the top seller in light trucks in its line of production. General Motors referred to as GM, was the company that built the line of Chevrolet pickups. A reason for people loving trucks made by Chevrolet is the fact that there is so many to chose from. Chevy trucks are seen being used on the farm or being used to travel the roads everyday versus any other pickup truck. Some trucks have more value than others, but all work alike.

No doubt, but it`s the internet, like this site is for all the GM truck info.He has to use two sources that "aren`t" the internet.

Re: Need Help On Some History

Seems kind of sporatic ATM. One thing I'd go on about is the beginning of trucks in GM, which I believe all started with the GMC Truck Co. that GM bought. Heart Beat of America was in the 80s.

One thing to mention is this was the first generation of GM trucks at least to really start gearing towards comfort, safety, luxury, and women drivers. I've seen some old 67-72 ads aimed at the woman of the house hold. Make mention of GM's IFS and coil spring rears that gave better ride and handling than the FURDs of the day.

 Yeah, sometimes it`s hard to tell when I`m kidding or not,I guess.

I don`t remember specific names and dates, but can dig it all up.GMC is what it became once GM was formed. But,GMC was the first truck in the line w/Chevy coming along in`25(or there about.See above memory comment:cool:).I believe (see memory comment above:rolleyes:) there were a few truck co. mergers prior to GMC when it was Rapid something or other(see memory comment above:crazy:).I don`t eat & breath this stuf but keep any info I read or stumble on.If I can remember where I put it(see...).
