Work truck?

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...psb2099ad4.jpg

My brother sent me this cellphone shot of his pickup yesterday...
ECE 3.5/6 drop, C-notch, 17" torque thrust, 6.0 LS/4L80 trans, vintage air. Dynoed 300hp to the wheel... hauls mulch in it, trailers loaded down with steel... through muddy fields... and takes it to cruise-ins too... and doesn't wash it... he's my hero...

That ought to really get the guys who won't drive their trucks if there is a cloud in the sky in an uproar. And to think your brother could have bought a brand new 50,000 dollar truck off the showroom floor to work and tow with and park his "nice" truck safely in the garage.

That's so cool. It is very easy to forget the functionality of these trucks.

That's going to be my truck when it can roll out of my garage under it's own power. It sure ain't gonna be no garage queen that never gets driven.

He works that old truck like a chinese slave! I didn't take this photo, but it's from the last Coker Tire cruise in Chattanooga... truck gets a lot of attention.

I don't see his as a pretty work truck. I see it as a pretty truck worked. And,that's just a truck!

Its cool to see a truck that looks that good get used as a truck should.
No hangar queen there!.

When I get the 396 installed (finally) in my truck I am going to use it and run it regularly.

That's what Chevy trucks are built for, looking good while being put to work.

Re: Work truck?

I respect anybody that uses a truck as a truck however I have seen plenty of trucks, alot being members of this site, that have trucks that were not built for hauling. Just because it has a bed doesnt mean that you have to haul stuff in it. Your brother has a nice truck and it looks like he takes great care of it even when in use as a truck. My 67 is used for work and play like this but when my 72 is completed it will not EVER have mulch, 2x4's, or anything else that might have any chance of causing damage.

Shot of his engine before he moved the air filter and MAF.

He's taken it to one cruise-in with us... it drew a lot of attention and I think he had a good time. But honestly... I think he could care less sometimes if anyone else likes it... He built it for himself.

But yea Matt it's C-notched. The rear has also been swapped to 3.73 gears, detroit locker and Moser axles.

Re: Work truck?

I guess filling the bed didn't work so he had to go after the suspension to get it lower

Re: Work truck?

Thanks for reviving this thread - was feeling blue after attending my first cruise night last night with my 71 and it being "outshined" by the garage queens. Have to remind myself that it looks its best with the boat hooked up to the back or a pallet of pavers in the bed, and has much more class than the modern yawn-mobiles that everyone else drives, even with the 20-year-old Maaco paintjob and dents here and there.

Re: Work truck?

Give 'er some, she likes it! My '72 is my work truck. If it wasn't loaded for the dump or moving or something, I'd be just wasting gas, and mine pulls the trailer, never sits in it. It's always full of crap. If I didn't, it would be like making a rule not to fart in the cab. It's mine, I do what I want.
