The ‘Trans-American’ 1972 Cheyenne super Survivor - Thread
This was very unplanned
A month ago when I was back home in California I saw this truck for sale down in Kentuky. Interesting, so I got in touch with the seller. Had the usual conversation. Along the way, he said ‘No, that is the original mileage, it hasn’t been rolled over’ ! Filed the truck away in my memory Moved on with my days And then flew back to our place in Massachusetts on a round trip ticket At some point 72Tigger texted me that he was going to truck show in TN Said you should come down, he already had the hotel room Hmm, KY is on the way to TN And I need to get my 2019 Silverado back to Ca So I looked up where that truck was located It was right along the way That’s a no brainer ‘Honey, I’m driving back to California’ |

Could it be true…
Those are the original miles ? Surely I would have to go find out |

That’s an excellent looking truck Eric! So will you be at the show by me with it Saturday?

Do I need to be signed up ? If you save my spot. I’ll be there |

And my ‘tour vehicle’ Right along the Ohio River Thanks, Dave |

When I had met up with Kirk (72Tigger)
Before the show, I had told him I had bought the truck ‘Well Eric, ‘We’ve got time to kill, let’s go find a trailer so you can tow that truck home’ Uh, okay  So I asked the seller if I could leave the trailer at his house while I went to visit a friend. Id be back the next day. He said no problem, I won’t be home tomorrow I’ll leave it out, pick it up when you can The title and keys will be on the seat Uh, okay If that’s what you do in Kentuky I’m good |

I'm not sure how well that speaks for us "Kentuckians", letting one like that leave the state! Beautiful truck, by the way. My cousins live on the West coast and when they visit, we take them to places and they are overwhelmed with country life. Enjoy it, rare find indeed.
P.S. That singer is a local fellow, 25 miles from our home. Come back anytime. |

If you decide to part it out, I'd be interested in the whole truck! Great find indeed. I hope you made or are making it back safely

Re: The ‘Trans-American’ 1972 Cheyenne super Survivor - Thread
Hey Kenny,
I’m sure we will have a beer or two by summer’s end Sorry, but The trailer will probably be sold when I get back to California |

Almost as good as what ‘titup’ used to part out ;) Not home yet Working my way through the heartland now The Kentuckian who sold it to me was definitely not a truck guy He bought it out of an auction from the original owners son He did however, know enough to leave it alone Just got it road worthy Actually kept the original carburetor and ignition Which he gave to me Next time I’m in the area I’ll look you up |

Looks like the wings are broken off Anyone have knowledge Of what this swan looked like before? Why would a Chevy truck have a swan on it ? |

Eric, I remember seeing that truck listed for sale after sorting through the files in my mind. I briefly chatted with the seller when I noticed the vin is super close to my truck. Very cool how you ended up with it.

Those hood ornaments were really popular with the folks running medium duty trucks around here back in the day. I’ve seen a few pickups that I call a rolling JC Whitney catalog.
