Customizing your ride, what have you done?
 

Hey guys,
Well like most of you I can't seem to keep anything completely stock. I’ve already done quite a bit to my truck to make it unique but since I’m now moving into the bodywork I’m looking for ideas.
My question is this: what have you done to make your ride unique? Have you shaved, modified, removed, chopped, channeled, customized or otherwise done something to make your ride different? Well here's your chance to show everyone what you think makes your truck cool. Post away!

Shaved the side makers and fabed a shroud and had it powder coated.Wheel housings are tubbed.

I really like the stock lines, but I'll be doing some minor changes. For now since I'm switiching from a short step to a short fleet, my approach might be a little different. One of the changes will be cleaning the cab of the fuel tank. POssibly modifing or changing trim lines.

nice fan shroud! ir's hard to beleive it's powder coated. it looks like crome.

Shaved the side markers and filled in the tail lights. Corvette roll pan took the place of the rear bumper and old tail lights. Gettin ready to install some bucket seats adn build a center consol. Big ass rear tires make it look cool too. Now im just workin on the paint. I'll get some pics up eventually.

dumb question. a lot of the time i see something that says chopped and channeled. I know what the chopped part is, but what is channeling?

Old school term for "Body Drop" Where you remove the floor pan and raise it inside the body to make the body set lower over the frame.Usually the floor pan is raised by putting a strip of metal vertically at the outer perimeter of the floor.Channeling basically refers to lowering the body over the frame more than stock.

ok, i knew what body drop was, i just never made the connection between it and channeling

Pretty much everthing you can think of has been redone. I lowered it 3.5/5.5, new wheels, tires, new motor/trans,dual ex, w/ Flowmaster 50's, wiring, enough billet & chrome under the hood to make you dizzy !! body/paint, Rhino Lining in the bed, everything new or redone inside, stereo w/10 disk changer alpine amp & speakers.You know after listing all these things you think I would be done but it's going to be a long winter so I'm sure I'll redo or change somthing .......

i am glad to see i'm not the only one who has thought of tubbing a truck by simply widening the original tubs. nice work. i'm curious about the strange cross sills and square stock though. oh one more thing how do you like the fiberglass front clip?

whybynu- that's a beautiful engine!! i'm totaly diggin the valve covers and polished water pump. i'm personaly not one to do a restoration but i can completely see the reason why some choose too. beautiful truck.

The cross sills on that old longhorn are 2x3 x 1/8 wall tubing, there are also some 2x2's, & a 1x2(right over the axle). that has been converted to a steel floor. As far as the front clip.......its not glass (STEEL IS REAL);) :crazy: L

05) Added blazer tank with side marker filler
06) Added Comp/Temp/auto dim mirror from 2004 Chevy pickup
07) Shaved tailgate chains (stepper bed)
08) Added hidden tailgate latches
09) Added Nissan Hardbody tailgate hangers
10) Added rear rollpan that runs from fender to fender (not just under the tailgate!)
11) Added 15" LED strips to rollpan
12) Added power brakes
13) Added adjustable height seatbelts from '98 Chevy pickup
14) Added intermittant (delay) wipers (Putter's Kit)
15) Added Autometer Pro-Comp gauge cluster (mounted from rear)
16) 1969 big-window to 1967 small window cab swap
17) A pair of 11" electric fans
18) GM serpentine belt/pulley set
19) Mad Electric power distribution kit.
20) Putter's "No Weld Accelerator Pedal Swap" (rod-type to cable-type..see FAQs)
21) Added front sway bar from 3/4 ton with ECE low-profile brackets


I know I forgot a few things, and there are MANY things still pending!!!

Thank you for the kind words. I glad a lot of folks had that stuff to help us all out. Oh yeah, the Band Aid count has gone WAY up since theen :D.

1)Added front disc brakes
2)Added power steering
3)Added 4/6" drop with ECE super track bar
4)Added 700R4 tranny
5)Added 18" Billet wheels
6)Added blazer fuel tank with filler located behind tail light
7)Added suburban leather seat (same as Putter's)
8)Added late model chevy steering wheel
9)Removed stock heater/Smoothed fire wall for vinage air set up someday
10)Shaved side marker lights
11)Added 1 ton front swaybar

As far as body mods go I shaved all the emblems, not the side markers, filled the stake holes, shaved antenna shaved mirrors, smoothed 'gate, and Rhinoed the bed. I wanted all the mods to be subtle. Future plans call for a smooth bed cover ,diamond cut headlights and clear deluxe side markers.

It is still a work in progress, but I installed an ECE 4/6 drop and an extreme drop X member.

that crossmember really cleans up the the lines of the frame. looks good. is your frame powdercoated?

Bought it, cleaned it out, fixed a flat, replacing the H20 pump, look out world here I come :hm:

13. Torq Thrust mags w/ white letter tires
14. 3 point belts
15. Custom side mirrors
16. Black/grey rear tint
17. Billet grille

There's likely more, but I can't remember.

mine is primered with dents and dings to, but im slowly fixing it all. Within the next month i hope to have side marker lights filled, along with gas filler neck, fill in trim holes, fill in side view mirror holes and then paint...I have a ways to go
