After 2 years and 3 months...

I can finally post a pic of my truck. Naturally - its not quite done. I've still got to put the trim on the outside, swap the old front bumper with a new one, and align the doors and hood.

I'm not quite satisfied with the engine performance, and I need to hit the brakes one more time to get them grabbing a bit better -- BUT I drove it this afternoon around the neighborhood. What a rush!! All the teenagers were drooling. I loved it. The old guy has a kewl car.

I did want to thank all of you who helped me troubleshoot so many issues. I couldn't have gotten this far without your help. Seriously, thanks.

Sweeeet...us Okees appreciate a good truck. Even if we don't live there anymore :) my truck sat in a barn somewhere in OK since 89 until I bought it last year!

It's hard to put the finishing touches on it at that point, all you want to do is drive it! Sadly, I'm nowhere near taking pics after 4 years...

Re: After 2 years and 3 months...

Thanks for all of the kind words! I'll work on some more pics.

Some folks mentioned the stance. I'm sitting with an ECE 2.5 / 4 drop, and 255/60/15 tires for now. I'm going to be installing 255/60/17 later this year, on Centerline Tracer rims. I'm just waiting for the rims to go on sale.

Has anyone with the 2.5/4 drop had to relocate shock mounts to attain the proper shock angle? Right now the rear end bounces around something awful.

Re: After 2 years and 3 months...

hey, are you going to be able to bring it to the Nationals this year. I know you bought a lot of parts from Tim last year.

incoma 03-26-2006 03:57 PM

Re: After 2 years and 3 months...

I don't think I'm going to be able to make it. I'm about 10 hours further away this year. I'm now living in Oklahoma City.

As a matter of fact, I still haven't installed all of the stuff that you guys helped me haul to my Dad's truck! I've still got all of the trim and front bumper to install. Until the truck's tuned out and "proven" I'm going to leave the old bumper on it so if I need to use the tow bar, I can just hook it up and bring it home.

Re: After 2 years and 3 months...

Thanks for the kind words. I've still got LOTS of adjusting, but I was able to make my first trip to Autozone yesterday! :metal:

Next trip is to the body shop to re-align the doors. After I put the new seals on, the doors wouldn't close!

Re: After 2 years and 3 months...

Then you need to eat another burger or two. Just slam the crap out of them.
And I know you aren't driving it all the way back over here to Dallas Auto for alignment?!?!?!?

Hmmm. A 2.5/4 inch ECE drop. That's what I had planned for my medium olive GMC. I would of thought it would of leveled it more. I may need to purchase lowering shackles also. Mine has leaf springs. I do like the looks of it. Hoping mine will get there.

Re: After 2 years and 3 months...

I'm still learning about how to drop a truck. I didn't originally get the adjustable panhard bar, and am now looking for a shock relocator kit. I'll probably buy this from ECE. The truck rides extremely rough with the current setup.
