Nice looking truck. I noticed a handle on the glove box, did any of these come with those? That rear bumper looks out of place, and it's missing a cap on one wheel. They were asking for a $150 processing fee?

Um, yes as matter of fact, mine has a handle. Not the same, but it looks factory.

What trim PKG did you need to get to have the handle?
I just looked at the other handle and it looks really different.

Takes more than an Earl Sheib paint job to make a 9K truck IMO.Actually the first photo showing the front bumper,it looks like they painted OVER some rust or crud. And whoopee!, they painted the valve cover too! Sorry, not impressed.

I'm with Longhorn....a little too much "wake-n-bake" if you ask me.

Long Stepper
Red
6/cylinder
Cheesy Paint Job
Low / No Options

Add it all up and it's a 3k-4k truck in my book.

Longhorn Man 04-21-2008 04:37 AM

Re: Better jump on this one before it's gone!

dingfodgy, you left out 3/4 ton too. it's a neat truck, but not the gold mine someone thinks it is.

Re: Better jump on this one before it's gone!

OMG... I can't believe someone actually put a bid on it. If you guys look closely at the body, it looks pretty rough, esp between the drivers door and front fender.

Re: Better jump on this one before it's gone!

I can't really decide what part of this brush-painted "creampuff" I like best. Could it be the Tiajuana style velour seat cover? The left over Bondo can wheelcovers, or perhaps the JC Whitney sure-grip steering wheel cover. No, it has to be the dual chrome plated "Bubba-pipes" peeking out from under the step bumper. The clincher is that this is a stock 6-cyl. with a stock SINGLE PIPE exhaust manifold. Just what are those duals hooked up to? Hmmm.....

Re: Better jump on this one before it's gone!

Anyone else notice the driver door -fender lineup?----the doors both look like they are 1 inch thick with bondo. There is rust all over behind the rear wheel picture and the dash is hand painted. The tail light lenses look original and junk, not to mention the $19.95 seat cover.
Looks like a $1000.00 truck TOPS!!!!!!!!!

Re: Better jump on this one before it's gone!

Might not be a bad truck to get (way cheaper) and redo right. But,I wouldn`t count on that having much work done right under what we can see wasn`t done right.I think it`s a neat truck.

The glovebox door handle was available to those owners to dumb to figure out how to adjust the striker so the door would 'pop" when the button is pushed.

Love those hubcaps? They make stock lug nuts look beautiful.

Why would the guy put the wider wheels on the front?Someone is clueless.

Gotta believe that mileage,huh?

Looks like someone`s backyard resto pride`n`joy and everyone elses "Eh,it`s alright" that a bag`o`hot air dealer gpt ahold up and threw on Ebay."This is the most reliable ...".Really,how far and long have you been running it?
And,some guy is considering having it shiped to San Diego?Gotta loe that Ebay!

I hate putting down trucks,it`s not their fault.

Ya, I was studying those pics too. Not as impressed as I would expect. If those guys get $9000 for a base model 250 engine (cause I sure don't see anything special on it), I should get at least $4000 more for all my options (insert sarcasm here)

Re: Better jump on this one before it's gone!

First off...never buy a truck from anyone who has one of those stupid and most likely dangerous steering wheel covers on the wheel.

Second, the paint looks fresh alright...too bright and not a great job either.

What's up with that oil can hub cover on the back wheel and those weird wings on the bed rails?

Hey! Don't hate on the $29.99 seat cover purchased at Oreilly's! It got me through 3 months until I put my electric lumbar Bench seats from a 1995 C1500:devil:

Ok...I have a question: Is the paint on that truck really that bad or is it the camera that is making it look that bad? And should there be emblems on the fenders?

special-K 04-21-2008 10:40 PM

Re: Better jump on this one before it's gone!

Bad paint and there were emblems (like all trucks).

I think the paint sucks, because you can see the same dark spots on each panel regardless of angle. I think it's a very poor do-it-yourselfer spray job and they just didn't get enough color down. I think either primer spots or the previous color of the truck is bleeding through!

WOW ! i love the silver to red paint lines on the inner to outer door area

I see it has the rare extra wide step bumper option too

Re: Better jump on this one before it's gone!

Just looks like another case of someone that doesnt know or care about old trucks trying to cash in on the recent rise in popularity and value of classic vehicles. The seller is hoping to find an ignorant person with money wanting to get into the classic car/truck hobby. Its sellers like this that turn off new people from the hobby, and make the rest of us look bad. Ran into a few of these guys when I first got into the hobby, fortunately didnt get taken, but I know others do.

Is that a license plate light on the dash cluster?? NOw that was done by someone who was high. Or at least someone not able to get high at night while driving.

Just wierd.

Re: Better jump on this one before it's gone!

that thing has been listed several time's for the last several month's ,
when I first saw it I thought it was some kind of joke they but a buy it now of like $14000.00 , and beyond the fact that it is a poorly put together mess that would have to be stripped and redone anyway ITS A LONG WHEELBASE !
I guess I agree with what someone said in this post that the owner must be someone who know's nothing about the old car & truck hobby or they would not waste what ebay fee's it cost's to list it , best case that truck would be $1000 and that's after an in person inspection provided the body ISN'T AS BAD AS THOSE PIC'S MAKE IT LOOK !

if he want's to see what a REAL TRUCK in good condition SHORT BED will bid up to he should look at this beauty ! this one hurt's me ! it is painfull to read about ! and look at the underneath shot's ! MAN WHAT A TRUCK !

It's so sad what people fall for on ebay. There's a sucker born every minute, and then they look on ebay to part with their money. I don't see why that red truck deserves to be in a showroom. Someone is going to have a bad day when something falls off driving down the road. The hubcap covers slay me. Either have them on all 4 or don't... And that mileage:smoke::haha::bsf:

I'm pretty sure this was part of the RPO BS4U Corvette engine-and-trim package...

;)

I always worry about stuff that's only painted from the top; look at the engine - dirty, except for the valve cover and air cleaner. New paint hides old sins...

Re: Better jump on this one before it's gone!

Yikes! The interior IS rough. Look at the duct tape on the heater box... the heater controls... the guages... the lack of weather stripping on the drivers side door area. That is no way an $8000 truck. With the rust bubble on the rear bottom of the drivers door, I'd be hard pressed to give $2000.

Someone ought to email him. Maybe he's just naive.

Madmandav 04-22-2008 02:41 AM

Re: Better jump on this one before it's gone!

Definatly a bondo bucket, especially around the drivers door. They must be high on something to think that it is worth that much. In that case mine must be worth 20 grand as it sits in pieces.

It may be.

Its so wierd that in all his pics everything BUT the truck seems to be in focus and very sharp.

I have sent two emails asking about the paint and lack of quality as the pictures would seem to indicate. I asked him if the paint was that bad or was it due to his camera. No response yet.

Decent rig, not for that money, but I'd put her to work and cruise it, but not for that much $$$.

All old trucks have their "character flaws", such as bailing wire for a positive battery cable (my GMC), and many other hokey things done over the years to keep them on the road. For $2k I might buy, but not for his Buy-It-Now, and a good example of inspecting and driving the truck before bidding.

That green one is nice, and a good example of the pictures I like to see on eBay. He showed all parts somebody would ask about, nicely focused and not shinning over the fact that it's a 40 year old rig.
