I got some new toys coming in!

You'll have to wait for more info, but all but one part will be in tomorrow! I'll post pics when they are all in. Can you guess what they might be?

New Edelbrock 750 (I'll need the extra fuel), flex plate and harmonic balancer (my old ones can't be used), MSD coil (I'll need the extra spark) and a set of long tube headers.

It feels like it's christmas..

No, they are
JEGS 30055 - Painted Long Tube Head
Painted Long Tube Headers
1-1/2'' Primary
3'' Collector

I don't know why there is such a difference between headers when they are all made of the same stuff. So I went with the cheap ones. I would love to get a set of Titanium headers, but I don't have that kind of money....

Re: I got some new toys coming in!

congrats....if you decide you don't have room for all those goodies, you can store them in my truck. I have plenty room under the hood for all of it...lol

Re: I got some new toys coming in!

well my recommendation is (flowtech and the jegs super cheapies are basically the same)

Cool, thanks for the heads up, I'll do that this weekend. Got any tips on how? I had a buddy paint his with high temp paint and let them dry for 2 days. After 2 min. of running the paint came off.

Oldschoolb2, having room for them wont be a problem lol.

Jegs has them on sale CHEAP! It would be hard to build one cheaper. It should be here by net week for sure. It's being shipped by truck. So it should make it home by say, Tues.

Ahh, the blueprint stroker motor right? I've had my eye on those for about 4 months now. If I remember correctly its $2700 or $2900 plus freight?

So far I have resisted temptation to pick one up for the old firebird, but, unsure how long I will hold out hehe

Re: I got some new toys coming in!

They are on sale for 2995 or something close to that. They are under 3k. I say go for it. I've done a lot of looking, to build a 400hp engine you are going to spend 3k. Unless you have your own machine shop and you know how to build. Even with that, these have a 30 month/50,000 mile warranty!
For me, I just couldn't beat that. Plus, I now have a 4bolt main 350 to use in my rock crawler.

Re: I got some new toys coming in!

I also got one for 86 K10. I got the dressed version. It's in the shop already installed. Just waiting on a few parts to finalize the install. I can't wait to drive it. Going from a 305 with 150,000 miles is going to be totally different. Good luck with your build. I'll take some pics this weekend.

Ok, so having a guessing game isn't cool lol, Here is what I have so far. Now waiting on the trans.
http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...22c6b1481a.jpg
Blueprint 405hp-440tq 383.

Only had it for 2 hrs and I've already seen something. There is a note that says not to run a vacume advace on here. Why would that be? And don't that mean I will not be able to use the kick down gear in my tranny? If so that will suck!

I just clicked the photo bucket, is that the 383? The truck looks awsome man. I wished I had the cash to redo all of mine at once. But I'll have to wait on that part.

because the cam is not creating enough vacume to advance the timing and you should beable to use the kick down

Depending on which picture you were looking at. The 71 C10 has 377. I don't have any pics of the new 383 yet in the 86. Here is a pic of the 86. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...ry.php?cat=780 I just paid off the truck and figured it was time to start fixing it up. The engine was just wore out. I replaced almost everything under the hood. I got the GM serpetine system with A/C, flowtech coated headers, hi-torque starter, new clutch, 454 aluminum raditor. Then I also am redoing the interior at the same time. GM dash, dakota digital guages, all new hardware on the doors, new weatherstripping, new bumpers and ect...
It was supposed to be just a motor swap but turned into a small resto job. The paint is a 6 out 10. Hopefully next week I'll out on the streets terrorizing the young kids in there imports. :metal:

Re: I got some new toys coming in!

Well Im sorry you feel that way. I thought we could be good friends! lol

I found out why they don't want you to use the vacume advance. They just don't want you to advance the timeing more the 36 deg. They say if you do it voids the warranty. I'm going to try and install it all in the next few weeks. Got the trany back this weekend.

71STPSDE 05-18-2009 09:34 AM

Re: I got some new toys coming in!

Talked to installer and he said with no problems it should be running on Wednesday. He waiting on bracket for the radiator. Since I'm installing a 454 one the stock won't fit. Once I get it running, then I'll get a video so you get inspired and get yours installed and hear yours. Good luck with the install.

Re: I got some new toys coming in!

Hell I'm already inspired. My transmitions only has a 6month warranty on it. I want to get it in and put a few passes on it before the warranty goes out. That, and I really hate seeing all of that money just sitting on my floor.

Re: I got some new toys coming in!

I know how you feel. My truck has been at the shop for 3 weeks now. I asked him if I could have it for Memorial weekend. I want to get the first 500 miles in so I can change the oil and start breaking it in.
