conservative wheels for 67 4x4 with 6inch lift

What size rims and tires look good and still offer decent ride and wear? Truck will be a daily driver for summer, nothing wild.

Do you have any pics of the setup? I'm trying to visualize the wheelgap and lets face it, 67 4x4's are enjoyable to look at.

Also are you wanting a stock pizza cutter look or something bigger?

Re: conservative wheels for 67 4x4 with 6inch lift

Couldn't go wrong with a 35 x 12.50 or 36 x 12.50 and a 8" rim. Conservative would be a 8" rally wheel if half ton. An nice old set of 16.5" 8 lug rims with dog dishes looks great on a 3/4 ton. 6" lift you might be able to run 37"s with that amount. Trevor

Mine are the Mickey Thompson classic 2's with 35x12.50x15

I like the look and they are reasonable on the price.

It depends on the overall look of the tuck when complete. I would love some old school turbine wheels and tom Mckey Thompson Baja ATZ about 35" tall. but you need to be geared for a tire that tall. Find an online tire/gear calculator to check RPM as cruising speed.

Here is a white C/30 Longhorn 4x4 conversion that has a 4" lift suspension and a 2" body lift with 235/85Rx16 tires.

The very blue Suburban has 285/75x16 BFG Mud KM2's, mounted on 16x7 Ford Van wheels. Build thread here with suspension specifics.

Then there is Landsurvey1's truck. Now these are tires with "the look"!
Unfortunately most of the pictures I have do not have that kind of info attached.

Thanks Tim and Mcmlxixs, I am looking for the look on the black truck. Posably with newer GM stock rims. I wish I knew the size of tires on the black truck, Mickeys look good too.

Actually landsurvey1's truck is dark green. Finally found a post that has the tire specs. Unfotunately it was with his old tires. You will need to PM him for the current setup.

"I am running Lt315/75R/16 BFG All Terrains with a Weld 10 x 16 wheel. The tires have a dia. of 34.8" and the lift is a 6" spring."

Re: conservative wheels for 67 4x4 with 6inch lift

Being that it will mainly be used on the road here is what I plan on doing.

17x8 wheels with a narrower 33" or 35" tire

I had a jeep with 33x12.50x15s on it. I really hated how spungy and unresponsive it was on the road. I'm sure a lot of it had to do with the lift and suspension set up (6" long arm lift), but I think the tires contributed also. Off road it was great!

Re: conservative wheels for 67 4x4 with 6inch lift

I like the look of the tires on the green truck,I may also go with a 8 inch wide rim . I like the thought of 17 inch rims also.

This is just plain badass! Love the stance & the wagon wheels just set it off for me!

Hey guys, the tires on my truck are BFG Mud Terrain TA. The size is LT 255/85R16 on a 6.5x16 inch stock wheel. Let me know if you need any more info. or photo.

Re: conservative wheels for 67 4x4 with 6inch lift

Thanks for the info Landsurvey, that is what I was looking for in a stance, not too big and not too wide. I have not made up my mind on diameter of the rim yet though.

I like the look of the mickey thompson classic 2 wheels think it is a classic look and not to flashy also like the BFG all terrain series tires they seem to last well and not to much road noise as compared to a mud tire

Re: conservative wheels for 67 4x4 with 6inch lift

does your truck already have the lift?

KD70chev 04-28-2012 12:18 PM

Re: conservative wheels for 67 4x4 with 6inch lift

Yes My chassis has the lift on it ,but no body parts yet. I am putting the body parts from my 70 c20 on the 67K10 chassis. I am ready to put tires/wheels back on the chassis so I can roll it around again and load on a trailer because I am possibly moving. My question is : will newer model truck-tahoe chevy rims fit on the 67k10 axles. I do not have 6 bolt rims anymore but have 16 inch tires I can use. I roughly measured the bolt pattern from my 02 Tahoe and looks like they will fit?

msgross 04-28-2012 07:45 PM

Re: conservative wheels for 67 4x4 with 6inch lift

The offset of newer style rims will be off, plus the center hole needs to be larger so I don't think that they will fit. Any chevy 6 lug will fit, other than the newer (90ish and up maybe?) OEM wheels.

Best bet is to find some aftermarket wheels...

I have that same Mickey Thompson Baja tires on my ZR2 and they have been awesome for everyday driving and snow.

Re: conservative wheels for 67 4x4 with 6inch lift

Mickey Thompson doesn't make a tire to go on those Turbines, since all the 8-lugs will be 16.5s. You can run the 7x16 Ford steel wheels with 12.50/35s or 37s. It's marginal, but will work. For that matter,if you go with a 16.5 tire, the 16.5 stock wheels were also 7"
