I have an factory AM/FM Radio I would like to have rebuilt. Does any members here do it or any recommendations for a good place to send it to?

Here are a couple links from the "NCRS Driveline" that cater to Corvette folks. I can't vouch for them, and they are not cheap. I seem to recall sending the clock from my 58 Vette to the first one, but that was about 25 years ago.

Critterman71 has a guy that he has worked with for something like 15 years. I am currently having one rebuilt locally. I can let you know how it turns out once complete, but CA is a little far from Maryland. LOL

Yes I did sent my AM-FM radio to Joe.
It has been a while but Joe did a fine job with my radio. At least that was my experience. At that time he had various options on re-furbing your radio.

I think it was Electrotech that I sent mine to. You can find him of this web site. He was good. restored a 1971 AM radio, great price (depends on what you want done to it or course). was quick and nice/easy to work with. I highly recommend him.

If you have one that works they aren't too complicated to clean up. Some windex, q-tips, and some orange paint for the needle, and mine looked like new.

I have a good friend who restores old radios of all makes and models. He has restored 3 am/fm truck radios for me personally, and several for customers around the country. He is meticulous and a perfectionist.

72 Super...sorry, the company is ElectroDesign, not electrotech. great work, low cost, recommend. search for my posts and there's a thread on them and my radio. It's nice to have an original refurbished working radio in the truck. Now if there were any AM radio stations to listen to, that would be really great!

I need to have my AM/FM gone trough as well... I wonder if any of these places can add a auxiliary input for an ipod or something. That would be neat.

Update: I had Jerry at http://www.electrodesign.us/ Refurbish my radio. The main reason I chose him after asking for references on here was his communication and detailed emails. He would go over everything via email that needed attention in great detail.

This particular radio I have had since 93-94. It was under the seat of an 1972 Cheyenne Super truck I bought years back. The dial wouldn't switch from AM to FM, so I pulled the faceplate off to see it I could at least get it to work, but the cord was broken. Well I just left it on my work bench for many years until recently. I had misplaced the screws that held the faceplate on and one of the volume control nuts,it had over spray on it, even on the lens etc. Jerry was a little scared to buff the Lens, but it came better than he anticipated it would. I haven't hooked it up yet as I don't have an usable speaker here, but I am really happy with the overall appearance.

Thanks to everyone for all the references and recommendations. I am sure the other places / people do great work too, I just felt confortable going with Jerry.

From my experience I definitely recommend Jerry and will use him again in the future.

If you don't mind me asking, about what does that service cost? I know it is a case by case deal for pricing, but I'm just wondering a ballpark to decide if I want to do this to my AM/FM

The total was $170.75 including the return shipping. When I first asked for a quote, Jerry stated without seeing it in person and going by description I gave him, he quoted me $150.

Pete, no I didn't on that one pictured. I may have Jerry rebuild the one in my 72 4x4 I just got recently and I will have him to install an MP3/aux jack in that one as I plan or driving this truck a bit more daily.

I recently had Greg at SM Electrotech redo another OEM AM/FM radio and am very pleased with his work: http://www.turnswitch.com/

He sells USA made repro speakers for our trucks that sound a lot better than the OEM examples.
