Just finished this drop ten days ago. I realize that 90+% of the people that see this won't like it, because it's not low. I totally get it. I like low trucks, too. I really liked the showroom stock look on this pickup, but wanted a little lower center of gravity for better handling. I noticed the difference on the circular freeway on ramps and interchanges immediately. I can carry more speed into them.

I went with Hotchkiss 2" springs in front (1.875" for small block trucks), and 2" springs in the rear from Brothers (Hotchkiss doesn't sell 2" rear springs). I also did a CPP front six lug disc conversion with Wilwood dual 2.0" pistons while I was at it, and all new front brake lines, with braided stainless to the calipers.

Just posting this for reference, so that people can see what 2.0" looks like.

It's definitely a good looking truck I like lowered trucks too but no reason every truck needs to be on the ground personally I think a 3 in rear spring would have looked better but still a sweet truck either way.

You may be surprised that not everyone wants theirs dropped on the ground . They all look good , I'd rather have what you've done on yours but to each their own . :chevy:

Its a great look and I agree, although I leveled mine with a 2.5 / 4 drop.

Thanks OARNGESI. I kept going back and forth about whether to use 3" springs in the rear. Still kind of am a little sometimes. I liked keeping some of the rake, though (stock look), and I liked not having to relocate the shocks.

NICE!!! I have always thought a 2, 4 or 3, 5 drop looked really nice on all trucks, it looks like a
handling package that could have been ordered from the factory to me.

I think it looks great, but I like them all. I chose to drop mine as far as I did because of the look I was trying to achieve. Being different with different tastes is what makes the world go round ;) :mm:

I like this look also, my 67 would get this treatment if I was to ever upgrade suspension and braking, but it just works too well as it is currently in stock from. Thanks for the picture. Great job.

The truck looks stock still, yet it handles better. That's an excellent degree of lowering at the "upper" end of the scale. And, your thread makes a great reference. I see your truck as still in the original category. One could have replaced with stock springs and the result would not be noticeable to 99%. No more of an alteration than radial tires. The next stage would be 4" and that would be mild custom (or 4/6 to level).

GREAT looking truck!! Very similar to what I'm doing with my '69 longbed; I really prefer a very mild drop like yours. What tire size is that?

....looks great, very good choice noting that everyone is dropping their trucks down so far and so low that now stock (or close to stock)....is now custom.

Hey that is one good looking truck! Yet it still looks stock to me. Unless my old 1/2 ton is wearing a heavy load from days gone by. Maybe you have a taller tire on there as mine were passenger car tires.

Thanks Tim. I got a very noticeable difference in grip/cornering ability. And I love the look. I had to point it out to my wife for her to notice any difference in stance. And thank you, archiving the 2.0" drop on a short fleet '68 for posterity is why I posted it.

Thanks Tquillen! Those are 235/75R15 American Classics with the 1.6" whitewall. I'm not sure if I'd go white again, but I like it enough on this body color combo, and with this stance, that I'm happy with the tires until they wear out.

Thanks for the huge compliment CG! I wouldn't be second guessing yours, though. It's gorgeous. I figured that most people wouldn't like it, because it looks like most guys who want performance improvements usually end up with their pickups near the ground. Since you have to strain your eyes to see a difference on my truck, I figured that most people wouldn't get it. And I don't blame them.

Thanks Tom! I've owned it for about ten years. It never made it very far from its birthplace at the Fremont Assembly Plant. I picked it up about a hundred miles away, in California's Central Valley.

Northern, I do indeed have a front sway bar on the pickup. It was as one of my first mods, shortly after bringing her home. Got a solid bar from Early Classic. It's been so long, that I don't remember how the truck handled without it. Kind of wish that I still had that upgrade to look forward to. Maybe I'll look into a tubular sway bar, for the weight savings🤔.

I'm just messing with ya (someone had to do it). You have a damn good looking truck! Mine will eventually be lowered 7/9 with 22" wheels but I struggled for a while debating between that or a mild 4" drop with the stock 15" steel wheels. I still love the look enough that I will probably pick up a set of 15 inchers just for fun.

I love the stock look of these trucks, both my grampa's bought new '67's, so that's how I remember them. But this small drop looks great, and would be a great upgrade if I had a 2wd. Thanks for the reference post!

I think the truck and the stance looks great. I have a 67 that I replaced the tired stock springs on and went with 1/2 drop springs. The new springs were actually shorter as advertised when compared to the stock ones but once installed the new springs had a higher ride height. I went back and used a cut off wheel to take half a coil off. If your truck does not have a front sway bar on it I would highly recommend putting one on as it greatly improved the handling.

Thanks! I'm thinking of dropping the back end a smidge so that it sits just an inch lower, as well. I do have a sway bar installed.
