Is my seat spring on correctly?
 

Putting my seat back together and trying to figure out if this adjuster spring is installed correctly. For some reason it doesn't seem right. Seems like the tension is a little high. The spring does tend to pull the set forward correct?

Hey flip the seat over so we can see the upholstery! I don't know anything about the spring but it looks like you just had that seat redone. I have three bench seats. I kept buying them thinking I would get one that wasn't wore out. NOT! I guess I will be reworking one of the three and pitching the rest.

OK, I will flip it over and take a pic....But first there is a little matter of a spring.

Anyone? Sure like to flip the seat over tonight and put the backrest on.

Hi Rakort, you do know there is a rod that goes all the way to the pass side bracket that releases the seat track (pass Side) so the seat will move and lock evenly (or maybe you just don't have it installed in this pic) Also your main return spring (the one pictured above) is hooked up in the correct spot on the bracket end, however I'm not sure about the seat frame location (my seat is in pieces right now as im just about to recover mine). Their is also an additional smaller spring (7 inches long, which connects the adjusting arm (the arm with the black knob) to the drivers side seat trackalso if I remember correctly. Call LMC and get their catalog as they have pretty good parts descriptions and diagrams and is usefull for quick reference if you don't have one already, I still have not got the 67 72 assembly manual which is worth its weight in gold. where would you get a 67-72 assemably manual at? This sounds like a good idea to get one.

A factory assembly manual is handy to have.However make sure you check the print.The one I bought at a swap meet a couple of years ago had very poor print quality.I bought it sealed since I was traveling and thought it would survive better.

The end of the spring attached to the track is right, But it appears from the picture that the end attached to the seat is too far away from the track. The spring should be more in line with the seat track from what I can tell.

Hey thanks for the thoughts. One thought I failed to come up with is look at an assembly manual. I have one gheesh....sometimes its the obvious things that are overlooked. Of course finding it in the assembly manual might be another trick. I played around with the spring location where it hooks to the seat frame and that is about the only hole it will hook to and still stay tight with the seat forward unless there is a hole tucked or hidden inside of the frame someplace. All is well where it is hooked up now it is just that when you slide the seat back it is difficult to get the passenger side all the way back in the last notch.

67chevy2wd: get the assembly manual off of ebay. I think I paid $25 or so for it. I'm sure the vendors have them also.

Great looking seat reupholster job. Did you do it yourself or have it done? Any tips to share? Who was your cover supplier?

Well the seat doesn't look too bad. I was and still am pretty unhappy with the fit of the lower cushion. I finally bit the bullet and put it back together as there is a swap / car show this weekend that I'm drving the truck to.

Your seat looks nice!

Before I posted last night, I went through my assembly manual and could not find a reference or picture of the spring. I looked at one of our trucks that has the original setup and there is a formed area on the heavy wire that the hook attaches to. I don't see that formed area in your picture.

If it works where it is that is all you need. We don't move our seats very often anyway.
