thanks 3100 i'll check it out. apparently thats a difficult thing to find out (no public production records im told). my research for my dad has put it between 10,000 and 13,000 units. i beleive almost 300,000 total model units were produced in 54. thats around 3% give or take with that option. thats fairly rare but it seems like i read about the automatics quite a bit from that era(?)

54 Hydromatic
Hello,
I currently own a 1954 3100 with the Hydromatic transmission. I bought the pickup from my mother, just four months before she passed away. I ran the vin through the Stovebolt website vin decoder. The sequence number is 031818, maybe this will help......Clint Wilhelm P.S. this truck is a daily driver, but needs restored. Will be restoring after I complete the restoration of my Dad's 1950 One Ton. |
Hydra-Matic
Hi Clint,
When you read this could you contact me please. I am in the process to put a Hydra-Matic in my 1954 Chevrolet Pickup and could use your help. Thanks Dutchboy |
Duchboy, why would you want to use a Hydra-matic !!
|
Hi, My wife likes to use the truck but has trouble with the shifting, so as I have a Sedan Delivery with Power Glide she wanted an automatic too.
That's why. Dutchboy |
I guess that the back of the blocks are different on the 6 cylinder and they will only acept the Hydro or Glides from that era, makes sense now!
