700r4

I have snagged a 700r4 tranny and I was wondering if those who have done the swap could help me out with any problems that they ran into and what are some of the things that need to be done. Are you still able to use the same crossmember but just move it back? Are the spline count the same as a turbo 350? Thanks in advance.

Move the crossmember and drill new holes. Reuse your turbo 350 mount onto the 700r4.

Cooler lines are the same.

The linkage will bolt onto the trans and can be adjusted to work.

Same flywheel as the turbo 350 used.

Yoke is the same as turbo 350 uses. If your turbo 350 is the 9 inch tailshaft version, the driveshaft will be the right length. A 6 inch turbo 350 will need the shaft shortened by 3 inches.

You'll need a wire to lockup the converter. It depends on how the converter is wired internally as to how you control the lockup. I always wire mine to lock up in 4th gear automatically. Done that way, I only have to supply 12v to the trans electrical plug.

I've done this swap multiple times.

You can use the same transmount, has to be moved, the yoke is different and you'll have to have the driveshaft shortened, setup the TV cable is a pain, and your existing linkage should work.. Hope this helps

Yoke is not different! I've done this one before, they are the same. I personally guarantee it.

I'll second that guarantee. I recently replaced the u-joints in my 74 & while the driveshaft was out I needed something to plug the turbo 350 trans tailshaft. I grabbed my assorted 700R4 parts bag for the yoke to see if it would fit. It did.
