blazer frame question
Does anybody know what pickup bodies will fit on a 74 blazer frame ? I'd like to build something different.
|
Blazer frames are the shortest made that I know of. They are too short for shortbeds. You would have to lengthen it to do it right.
|
The 73 - 86 Cab and Front End will fit. You will have to shorten a short Box in the front. Or build a deck. I believe a Blazer frame has a 105 Inch wheel base and a short box is 115. It can be done if you have the time.

Here are a couple of up to date pics of mine. 1981 Body with a 1979 Blazer Frame. The 79 Frame has no rear cab cross member, Had to build my own. The 74 Frame should have one.

charlieo, I shorten the box in the front. Took aprox 11 Inches out. Cut it with a zip disk, and mig welded back together. You can check out more pics at http://community.webshots.com/user/truckstuff101 |
I mounted a 58 cab on my 74 chassis. I used the mounting brackets off the 58 frame. The step side works fine. I moved the fenders forward and shortened the steps. The frames ends just under the rear of the bed. I will build a bumper and receiver unit to fit. I used mounting blocks to raise the cab to the right height to clear the gearbox and transfer case.
