Burb/Panel patch panel questions

I have a question about patch panels...can you use the patch panels for bedsides?? I have a 64 panel and the right rear is rotted and badly mangled. I am considering even getting a used bed side and using what I need. Has anyone done this and what have you used for patches. thanks
