Carbon deposits for sure!

I never knew what that was for... Almost every (tired) engine I have broken down was 75% or more clogged. On the P.O.S. in my garage right now, I had to stab at it with a large screwdriver!

any tips on how to reduce the carbon build up without doing a ring job?
