Whats up with these rims?

Is it normal to have a gap between the inside edge of the trim ring and the wheel? Trim rings are 2 inches deep but I don't know how wide the wheels are. Does a 2 inch ring sound normal? Maybe I have van rings on a deeper wheel???

rim ?

Those look like the narrow van rallys, which I think are only about 6" instead of the 8" ones. You could look for the narrow rings which I think are aftermarket and fairly cheap.

Maybe I'll start over with a set of 8 inch rims and new rings. Tires are 235/75/15. Will they be a good fit on an 8 inch rim?

Believe it or not they made 3" deep trim rings for those rims. My Dad has 'em on his '85 1/2 ton Burb. Here's some at ChevyDuty.com for $20 each:

These are 7" wheels with 3" rings. You can see the diff. John

Clarification...

The gap is between the center of the wheel, where it is welded to the rim, and the ring. The rings are 2 inches deep but I think a 3 inch would be too deep to fit. Was there a 2.5 inch or 2.75 inch deep ring for these wheels?

Those are the skinny van ralleys...probably 6" or less (not 7""). The size is stamped on the wheel. Those rings work good on wider ralleys and show off more of the paint on the wheels.
Here is pic of 8" ralley (5-lug) with the wide rings.
7" ralley (5-lug) with the narrow rings , and
8" ralley (6-lug) with the narrow rings.

I believe the trim rings are suppose to have a sharper more defined edge on them. More of a squared edge rather than the rounded ones like you have. At least my 72 GMC did. I think the squared ones look better, myself. Just my .02.

I think you are right Chevydog.... I pulled a ring off and they have a 93 date stamp. Don't know what they came off of. I like the squared one better myself.

those do apear to be van rally wheels, which are 15x6.5 (i'm sure on this because i was just at the yard looking for a set and its stamped 15x6.5 in the door jams of the chevy vandura's). the 2 inch ring is the correct ring for them. i doubt you will find a wider one that will fit

I was cruising the internet and found exactly what you are describing and it looked identical. I'm going to go with a wider set of rallys (8 inch) with deeper rings. That should work better with the 235/75 tires I have on there. Thanks
