Valve Cover Oil Cap/Grommets
My passenger side valve cover has on it an oil cap towards the front of the cover (the rear has the flame arrestor). Since the oil cap is a pretty sloppy fit......doesn't fit very tight......I was wondering if there is some type of grommet that could fit there that would seal up the hole in place of the oil cap? Or do they make oil caps similar to the one in the cover? The A/C compressor and mounting brackets sit right on top of that area so there is only an inch or so of room between the cover and brackets. And I do not want to replace the original valve covers for aftermarket. Any ideas what could be used? Thanks for any help.

There is an oil filler extension available also. Dunno a part #. Was eyeballing them at our local speed shop.

Crusty,
Thanks............I'll check into that. The ones they've given me before were too tall to fit but I'll try the one you mentioned. |
oil cap
Oil caps, breathers and grommets are not the same for steel covers and aluminum covers. Maybe you have the wrong grommet and or cap.

My gm parts book says 71-72 ser 10 thru 30, blazer (exc. b.b.) 10110859
cap asm , oil filler (2" dia) rubber |
Yea, my 72 has the 2" rubber oil cap on both valve covers. A PCV on the drivers side, and hose going to the air cleaner base on the pass side to evacuate vapors from the crankcase.

Most of the venders carry the stock oil plugs for the valve covers ... couple bucks
