ye ol beater!
Rebuilt the carb, slapped on a pair of glasspacks( straight from the headers, no tail or dumps) Fired it up after three months of sitting. Adjusted the clutch and took off around the block for a cobweb departure! :burnout: It was backfiring and the noise shook the neighbors houses! The beater was alive and my two sons were happier than a possum eating **** sitting in the seat beside me! I pulled up to a 4way stop and to the right a pretty nice plymouth roadrunner! I continued thru the intersection just a backfiring away! I was kinda embarrassed, but kept my cool for the boys! Limped it home and put up the tools for the night. I guess that old beater brought me and the boys a lil bit closer! And to think that the boss thinks it is a waste? :bs:
LONG LIVE THE BEATER! :flag: |
Carb kit: Cheap
Glasspacks: Cheap Clutch adjustment: Cheap Busted knuckles: Cheap Bonding with your sons in the loud old backfiring beater truck: PRICELESS! Cherish the memories.............. :) :) :) |
I second that motion!!! I hope my girls will take an intrest in what old dad likes to do.

What part of Oklahoma are you from?

Now that's cool:D
Congrats on the Cobweb Departure,Nothing like that first trip around the block I bought a 67 GMC a while back that is that way,and we just beat it around the farm, but last week I gave it to my 11 yearold, with the understanding I get to use it for 5 more years:D My way of keeping him close I guess.Plus I will have a good long while to get it ready to drive on the road. We gotta give these boys something cool to drive:) |
My beater is a 1 ton ambulance. My 7 year old daughter loves to ride in it, but my wife will not ride in it. My 16 son thinks its cool-he wants to drive it to school. I'm from Shawnee OK myself.

I am from Stroud. And yes the boys will need something cool to drive. That image in highschool helps there self esteem. With the right guidance of course! Two days ago we stripped apart the short bed i got from huggercst. I finally got them to use my ratchets right instead of using it for a clicking windmill! HAHA! I rarely decline them to help me! Words of wisdom for some out there: When they ask questions answer them, if you dont know find it out! I am getting awsome feedback from this!
