Question??? Help!!!!
 

Hey Guys, Trying to get my truck finished. Have a question I have one heater hose 3/4in hose going to the waterpump(bottom) the other one 5/8in hose would normally go to the intake but the bracket set up I am using for my A/C is really in the way. Can I run that hose to the outlet that is made in to the radiator?It has one place on it. (aftermarket 4-core) Or the outlet that is on the top of my water pump? Help!!!! :banghead: :confused: :crazy:

Tim,

You should be able to run the inlet to the top of your water pump. That is set up for a bypass hose on some vehicles but the trucks do not use it otherwise.

Running to the raditor will not work.

Jim, this is the first time I've ever disagreed with your advice.

I say he can run the hose to the bung on the radiator just fine. Water leaves the pump, goes through the heater core and returns to the tank on the radiator. It's common on other GM vehicles.

I have to say that any fitting you see on the water pump is a return/suction line. That goes for the lower radiator hose, heater hose or by-pass hose, they are all return. The heater core can return to the pump or the radiator. The heater is supplied hot coolant from the intake manifold, the fitting close to the thermostat.

That is right, and Jim is right. I forgot the fittings in the pump went to the suction side not the pressure side.

That makes Jim have a 100% record as far as I can tell.

So both fitting on the water pump is return? and I have to run one off the intake?

My advice was incorrect, (TX Firefighter, I messed that answer up). What Gordo said is correct. I just took the back of the water pump off and the by pass port goes into the return side of the pump. (When I looked at the pump yesterday from the outside I thought that it was on the pressure side).

Tim, you will need to hook up to the intake manifold. I hope that I did not cause you any problems.
