help with rear of my K5 please
I currently have a 4" blocks(tapered) and a 10 bolt and am ready to swap out to a 14sf now. The P.O. of the 14sf had the spring perches reangled because he didnt want to use shims. What is the 1)best 2)cheapest way of getting the 14sf under my Blazer and keeping drveline angles where they should be.

If you keep the blocks then you might just move the perches..
If you don't move the perches then look for 4in lift springs. Or a shackle reverse |
go with a shackle flip.. keeps stock springs for better right and controls axle wrap better than 4" blocks...

That was the original plan but witht the perche angle being changed wont that set the pinion way off? |
yeah, any lift is probably going to change the pinion angle.... or no? could just shim the axle back to where it should be...
|
I would bolt it up and check the pinion angle. you might not need to do anything. you could always reverse the blocks to have the taper face the other direction and see what you get. Or get you a shackel flip and be done.

HMM when I accidently reversed the block on my 2wd flip kit the drive shaft was too short, would it be the same for the lift? What if i shimmed it?
|
Just get some shims to correct it and you should have no driveline problems. You can also lower the transfer case 1 inch to help with pinion angle nad vibration. If I were doing it on a vehicle I was keeping I would have the spring perches relocated, ditch the blocks and do a shackle flip or go with 4 inch springs. Might get better info at CK5 as folks there have already done everything you can possibly do to a Blazer.

I would be concerned about putting shims in there with blocks already, could cause issues, atleast thats what I think, I refuse to use anything bigger than a 2.5" block myself anyway.
But springs would be my first choice, with a set of springs and no shims it would be right. |
