I just bought my truck and have a few plans for it. This is my first truck and classic. Just thought I'd share the before pics. My family and friends call me crazy and call the truck a rust bucket and POS.

Heres some pics:

Welcome to the board :D
Well looks like a pretty solid truck, aside from the wrinkles, so hows the cab look as far as rust

68haywagon 02-17-2005 07:34 PM

Both rockers are pretty much gone. the pass cab corner is bad, the driver side cab corner has a hole. the floor is solid except for one spot on the pass side in the back. The cab supoorts are just about non existant. Both doors seem solid. Alot of work but I have plenty of time.

Thanks for the welcome. I hope I can contribute some as I learn things. I know I will be asking many questions.

Mike

Welcome to the board from South Mississippi.

I might have a set of fenders you can have. They are 68's with the markers filled but it wouldn't be much trouble to "unfill" them .They also have the inner fenders still attached. I also have a set of cab corners and a passenger side rocker that you can have for what I paid for them.( I got them from GMC Paul with no shipping) Chris :welcome2:

good luck haywagon!!

It has "character" , that's for sure. It reminds me of the one I hauled a few thousand bales of hay with 30 something years ago. For working farm trucks, you couldn't beat the old straight 6-3 on the tree Chevy pickups.

I also had a 1965 Chevy that I put a Corvette 350 horse 327 in. It was the fastest hay wagon in the county back then :)

Welcome from another white 68 freak! (I guess that sounds bad. I mean white truck!)

I see you have an untra rare and highly desireable smog pump too! Your's is about the only other one I've seen surviving after 30 some years.

She actually looks pretty solid for an eastern rust belt truck. Contrats!

Here's my baby. Looks to be cut from the same cloth.

Your family and friends will have to eat their words when their new stuff breaks and you have to give them rides. Welcome from Colorado.

You PA guys crack me up with what you call rusted junk...come on west a few hundred miles...
It looks to me like you have a pretty good starting point there.
What did you pay if I may ask. Does it pass inspection...or at least do you have a friend who will pass it?
What are the plans, what else do you need for it?
Welcome to the best board on the net from central ohio.

HI, and welcome to the board. At least you have a driver while you work on it.

Welcome To The Board From The Great White North! Great Start there for a Resto!

68haywagon 02-18-2005 04:16 PM

Well thank you guys for the welcome.

Chris (zeeklu)-you grabbed my attention. I'd like to talk to you more about those parts.

toms68cst- The smog pump is there but not hooked up ;). Its also missing a bolt on the bottom. Nice truck! Unfortunately I'm probably gonna changed the color in the future so they won't look like siblings anymore. I have become very unfond of white-I own a white van and it's the biggest pain to keep clean and cover any scratches.

Longhorn Man- I paid around 500 for her. It "passed" inspection with the PO but he had to pay someone, cause I don't think it should have passed  because one trailing arm has a rotted out half, the cab supports are only rust outlines, and the rockers are made of white duct tape :hmm: . But hey I not complaining its good until 12/05. My plans are to replace the rockers and cab corners in the spring and then take everything off the frame. Get the frame and suspension parts powdercoated and rebuild. Gonna drop it a few inches front and rear and convert to 5 lug disc brakes in front, and 5 lug rear. I'm hoping to replace the 250 inline with a sbc but thatll be way down the line.I'm leaning towards a bright red for color, but I also like dark blue. I have a while to decide that.

I haven't really had the chance to go over the truck yet. I only saw it for a day then I had to go back up to school. The truck is in the Philadelphia suburb of Levittown for now but I hope to drive it to Wilkes-Barre to do the major work. I have a neighbor who has and is restoring a few F**ds (tryin to make him a chevy man :banghead: ). So I will have some assistance with the restoration.

As for parts that I will need? Hmmm where do I start. The big one I picked up on so far is the bed. It's VERY rough, I think far beyond repair. I love the longbed fleetside so I'm just gonna start looking for a donor thats in better condition.

I'll make sure to add update pics when I have them.

Thank you everyone for the welcome and wishes of luck (I'm gonna need it).

Hehe I also like the little smiley guys. I'll be using them alot :metal:

:ho:
