Trans and Transfer case questions
I need some help on this.
1. What is a part time set up, and or full time? 2. Which is better? 3. If part time is what i think it means, thats what i want to put in my newly built truck. 4. What kind of trans/transfer will fit in a 78 blazer frame with a 81 cab on it? 5. What modifacations will have to be do if any? 350 engine, All blazer parts are stll being used on the frame. Thanks John |
What tranny do you have.
NP203 all are fulltime unless a part time kit have been installed. Case iron chain driven, one heavy mofo NP205 most desired case, part time all gear cast iron, not as heavy mofo NP208 light weight aluminum housing, chain driven, good low NP241 same as above but with a different ratio some 88s and all 89 autos You could get : TH350/NP203 full time(factory built) Th350/NP203 with aftermarket part time kit Th350/NP205 part time (factory) <--best all gear driven cast iron case Th350/NP208 with aftermarket tranny tailshaft adaptor Th400/NP203 rare Th400/NP205 hard to find SM465/NP203 rarer SM465/NP205 most common SM465/NP208 700R4/NP208 700R4/NP205 with aftermarket adaptor 700R4/NP241 I prob missed something. It depends on what tranny you have to work with and what kind of use the truck will be for. |
the NP 205 should have a PTO as well if that is of any use.

Thanks clarkjw24 and Prerunner1982,
I have no trans or transfer at this time. Thats why i need to know what type i should look for. This will be my sunday diver, maybe tuesday aswell. I'll even put back the factory type. If they came in part time. If not then original will do for now. Looking at your information the Th350/NP205 is what i should go with . Thanks John |
