Any Ideas ?
I have a 72 blazer and the PO had rhino liner sprayed throughout. In an attemp to install my front seat belts I have run into a problem. I was trying to locate the bolt hole thinking it was just covered with liner, but to my suprise It seems the PO has welded in patchs where the holes should be.
OK, any ideas how to install the belts now ? Thanks, Bret |
Drill a hole and weld a plate and a nut to the bottom? That's the first thing that comes to my mind.

Do the Blazer belts bolt to a riser or floorboard like the trucks?

PASSENGER IS ONE FLOORBOARD & ONE ON RISER (THE RETRACTOR END IS ONE BOLTING 2 RISER) OR MAYBE IT'S EVERYTHING ON THE RISERS EXCEPT THE DRIVER'S RETRACTOR, HAVING BRAIN FARTS :ww: |
TH, is the Rhino liner on top only? Have you looked under the truck for the captive nuts for the seat belts and seats? If they're still accessable, you prolly could drill thru the threaded bolt holes from underneath. Use a small bit. Then maybe a razor or a little knurled grinder bit, slow and easy.

On the Blazers the driver's side is setup like the trucks. The other three seat belts are anchored to the short wall behind the seats. You can get at the three anchors that go into the wall. I would suggest making up (3) plates 4"x4" by 1/8" with a 17/32" hole drilled in the middle and a 1/2-13 nut welded in place. Locate and drill three holes in the wall for the three wall mounted anchors using a 17/32 drill or similiar.
Paint the plates and install them using the seatbelt bolts for holding them in place. If you prefer, you can sheet metal screw them in place but they won't move with the seatbelt bolts holding them on. I would suggest using some kind of sealant under and around the plates to seal out water. On the drivers seatbelt anchor, I think the easiest way is to cut the floor and peel it up to give you room to insert a plate. I am not sure what size to make the plate but make it as large as you can. If you need dimensions, I can get them for you. Jim |
