Rear end question

After all these rear end threads, I figure I'd get in on the action. :)

Seriously though, I have a HO52 rear end with 4.11 gears. I hate what it does for my mileage. I've searched through threads and pretty much have determined that 4.11 is about as good as I'm going to get with the HO52.

What are my options? I have seen people talk about swapping with a Dana 60, but it seems like most of these are leaf springs and I have coils. What would I expect to spend on a Dana 60 with coils? I don't really need the posi, which seems to be popular. Is there even a chance of finding one cheap? And I mean cheap.

Are there any other rear ends that would work with a 72 C-20 with coils? Or am I just stuck with what I got?

Thanks!

...... :hm: trade me straight across for my open 12B with 3:73 and weld new brakets on for the coils  :hm:

You can find a 3/4 ton that came with a big block. It should have a 3.54 or something like that in it.

you could get a ford nine inch & have some brackets made for it.
i am unfamiliar with the code ho52.can you shed some light?

what's an HO52? I've got a coil spring 12 bolt with 3.73's and am just a couple of hours West of you...

I hear ya jt, I've got the same gears and I'm going to change them (one of these days). 1st gear is usless unless your into pulling stumps & 4th gear goes @ 55-60 mph WOT. I think I can only go up to 373's with my stock rear end, if I want anything higher I'll have to change the whole rear end :(

the H052 is the large corporate rear axle. it looks like a ford 9 inch on steroids.

What axle would that have in it?
