I converted my 68 GMC SWB 4x4 to automatic so i don't need manual trans anymore . F/S 4 speed tranny , rockwell transfer case , driveline rear only for SWB , clutch pressure plate , fly wheel , high hump cover , rubber floor mat . Tranny and tc works perfect 175.00 and no shipping located in Salem , Oregon . Jose

Jose, My son is building a 4x4 out of my '72 Longhorn. I will ask him if he needs it. I am assuming that it is all in excellent operational condition?

I would buy that if you were closer :whine: Shipping that heavy thing would cost... I have that setup in my 70 blazer now.
Bump for ya!!!

Exactly what kind of tranny is that? Looks like my sm465 in my truck?
Thanks, maybe interested if I get some funds.

bisquik65 shipping would be expensive .

Sorry charlieo sheet metal goes with the tranny set-up .

Hoods69BadBowTie Tranny is an sm420 . The sm420 is 2 inches shorter than the sm465 .

BobS 05-19-2005 04:25 PM

The tranny looks like an SM-465, SM-420s only have one PTO port and it's on the drivers side. Last year for the SM-420 was 67.

would buy if you would ship to so Cal.

That 420 tranny made it into a few produced GMC's up here in Canada a little later than 67....I had one in my 69 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 that I had once.

boraxman 05-27-2005 01:24 AM

Dont wanna hijack :but: ive got a 420 w/PTO that had been rebuit at some point and worked fine when pulled. Sell cheap.

jose 05-27-2005 02:11 AM

toroflow that thing weighs a ton well almost . I will consider shipping if i dont sell it localy .

I am almost positive it is a sm420 . I measured a sm465 out of a 71 and it measured 2 inches longer .

Rod 05-27-2005 08:31 AM

Run the tranny through the gears while it's sitting there...reverse is which way? Then you'll know.
