Fuel guage issues...
 

OK gang- I have the poly tank kit installed and I have the new sending unit wired up- all was working great until about an hour ago. Guage was working correctly, and now it reads nothing. Ground is still intact and no visibly loose wires...Is it really possible that the sender just shot craps? Any other ideas? Just for reference, the guage did not work prior to the new kit being installed.

What do I need to be looking for?

The resister probably went out. It's the ceramic thing attached to the metal studs on the back of the gauge. fixagauge.com or something like that sell the resistors for about $10 and it's an easy fix if that is what's wrong with your truck.If you have access to a digital multimeter and can measure resistance value of the resistor, it should be around 70 ohms iirc Randy

Recheck that ground? Did you scrape the metal clean and bare where the ground is bolted? Is the metal that the ground is affixed to also grounded well? Trace the ground path back to the battery.

Doesn't that little resistor keep the needle from jumping around so much? Or am I thinking of something else?

Yes the ground wire was new. It is grounded to one of the main frame cross members. Everything was scraped and prepped for ground. I will start tracing the path later today.
