Maiden Voyage..Hey Where's that Smoke Coming From?

Finally pulled the 69 SWB Step out of the garage today. I drove around the cul-de-sac a couple of times at it seemed fine. I drove down the rode and back, and it shut off as I pulled in the drive. I smelled something burning. My Positive battery cable was too close to the header and burnt up. I got a new cable to night and will put it on in the morning. Do ya;ll think that could have caused any other damage I can't see?

Check your fuse box to be on the safe side.

She's fine. I put a new cable on. I also put a new starter on...I cracked the solenoid on the old one. The new one only cost $36. She fired right up. I drove her to the MP station and got the VIN verified, went and got her weighed (3600 lbs), and just put my tags on!!!

Well, I don't know about burn out pictures yet. I did set the timiming tonight. I need to adjust a valve or too, also. It kinda wants to bog down if I try to floor it.

But, I did take these pictures of it sitting still today. I like 'em...

Dan, nice stepside truck, if I were you I would get a starter heat shield since you are running headers all that heat coming in contact with the solenoid usually burns them up prematurely, and also a postive cable wire heat tube will keep your battery cable from burning up as well.
