Heater hole in firewall

I have been seeing alot of trucks with the heater core removed and the firewall welded up.

I plan to put an after market AC in. What are the drawbacks of removing the heater core and welding up the hole.

Or any other info about doing this. Im getting close to finishing up the cab work.

Does this A/C unit have a heater? If not, i wouldn't do it onless it is a weekend item only. You will not have a defroster which is kinda important on muggy rainy days.

Yes planning to get a combo unit for heat and air. Looking at a vintage air or old air. Anyone ever had any dealings installing.

here's a pic of what the Vintage Air setup looks like on the firewall.... I guess you could weld up the blower motor hole entirely since it's not used... you could also weld up most of the heater core hole but you'd want to leave an opening for the hoses and wires for the new under dash unit...

I'd wait til I got the a/c kit and then figure out what I could weld shut....
