Paint booth time

I know I posted last week that my cab would be in the booth and I would post photos, but due to a number of problems in the shop and our beatiful MN weather, I was scheduled to paint this morning but was unable (unwilling) to make the 60 mile drive to the school in a blizzard. I did however manage to get a couple photos of my instructor's 69 4X4 cab after we set it on his frame.

And here is my 67 cab waiting in line for the booth. I chose a 1974 Ford pickup baby blue.

I'm not sure, but I'll get the info tomorrow and post it for you. I was surprised to find that he used a single stage paint.

I rather like the idea of single stage paint. Seems to be easier to maintain if the truck will be driven a lot. Easier to spray on, I don't have much experience, and easier to repair once the dings and scratches start to appear. Just the opinion of a novice!

Re: Paint booth time

Here is the information on the paint my instructor used on his truck. It is a 2004 Nissan B17 or PPG #6176 sprayed over a black sealer. This paint is not listed at the paint store as a SS paint. It can be purchased and sprayed in BC/CC or have the store contact PPG and get the formula to make it a SS. Sometimes it is hard to spray a metalic SS, but this went on very nice as a SS.

I like that color!!! I have been looking at Gaurds Red to paint my 69 Short Step but it seems that everything out there is red. I have a Gray/Black interior so I could just about paint it any color. Guess I need to get the creative juices flowing. Nice job on the cab.

I love that Blue. I'm going to do some flavor of midnight blue myself. Probably a Porsche/Audi color.

JRB do that 69 in Siver!

Re: Paint booth time

You forget that I am in northern MN. The ground is snow covered and it is damned cold. I have to take the photos indoors with poor lighting, but check out my new post of my cab with the baby blue. I took these photos in the booth where there was some lighting. I'll get some better outdoor photos this spring (June) when the temps hit 40 +.
