Opinions on what kind of Shocks (Lowered)
I just lowered the front of my 69 Short Step. I was wondering what kinds of shocks that other people have put on their trucks after lowering them. Give some feedback about their perfomance and how they effected the ride of the truck.
Thanks, JRB |
Re: Opinions on what kind of Shocks (Lowered)
I have a 4/6 drop on my truck from ECE. They use KYB shocks as does Air Ride Tech. I have about 5500 miles on the truck and think it rides great.

Re: Opinions on what kind of Shocks (Lowered)
I put Doetsch Tech shocks on mine front and rear. Also bought CPP's relocator kit that helps do away with the severe angle you start getting when these trucks are dropped down out back. Everything went together pretty easily. I like the DT shocks as they are a bit stiffer than the stockers but not too stiff. If you plan on lowering 4" or more out back you need the relocators also. The lower mounts just bolt right up. The upper mounts you need to drill out the stock mounts as they are riveted to the frame. I used an air chisel to pop the heads of the rivets off and then just tapped the rest out with a punch & hammer. Piece of cake.

Btw, later today I'll post the model # for the KYB Gas-adjust shocks I'm using. They're awesome. |

Doetsch Tech shocks are pretty good thats what on my 67. Dont have any problems with them.

Re: Opinions on what kind of Shocks (Lowered)
I used Summit 2 inch drop shocks, reboxed Toxic shocks, only got about 1500 miles on them, seem to ride fine.

Re: Opinions on what kind of Shocks (Lowered)
I use KYB Gas-a-just shocks model #KG5409. These are the best shocks ever! I use them on the front and the rear. I have a 5" drop and use the ECE shock mount relocators also.

No relocater for me with 2.5" blocks in the back. You only need them with rear drop springs, not with blocks. Blocks retain stock geometry. |

First I would like to thank everyone for your help and replies. I was wondering if 65dollars per corner for a set of KRB shocks is a good price?
Thanks, JRB |
Re: Opinions on what kind of Shocks (Lowered)
That's pretty high.
ECE sells a nice set of 4 KYB's for something around 130 dollars. |
